Supkiwi
I wanted to use Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Spread in my whole30 instead of Olive oil but it has non-gmo distiller monoglycerides (emulsifier) listed as an ingredient. It doesn't say it contains soy anywhere and it is also gluten and lactose free but I can't find anything on that ingredienet anywehre. Is it Whole30 compliant or no? Thank you so much! Administrators ladyshanny Posted July 28, 2016 Administrators Share Posted July 28, 2016 It's hard to know exactly what this product is as you don't note the brand but if it is the Simply Nature brand, then no, you would not want to use this as sunflower oil is only allowed when dining out, not as a product you use in your home. Why are you wanting to use this processed product instead of plain olive oil (or another fat like lard, tallow, ghee, avocado oil etc)? Sustainable oil blend (extra virgin coconut oil, non-gmo sunflower oil, sustainable palm oil), purified water, sea salt, non-gmo distiller monoglycerides (emulsifier)
Supkiwi
Is the non gmo distiller monoglycerides non whole30, though?
Supkiwi
I probably won't eat it now due to the sunflower oil but I am more curious about the non gmo distilled monoglycerides gredient. I can't find anything on it anywhere on the whole forum.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 28, 2016 Moderators Share Posted July 28, 2016 There are lots of things on which the Whole30 offers no comment. Monoglycerides is one of them. If you want to learn about them, here is a good article: http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-a-monoglyceride.htm
