kdiddy
I am scheduled and committed to starting my Whole 30 tomorrow. Unfortunately, I had a flare up with a herniated disc in my back yesterday and had to start on a six-day course of Methylprednisolone steroids last night. Is there any reason these steroids would negatively affect my Whole 30 if I'm taking them during the first 4 days of it? I know that the Whole 30 is one of the best ways to fight the inflammation in my back, so I have essentially started early anyways. I just want to make sure the steroids won't have any impact on my progress/non-scale victories that might influence my overall experience of the program. jmcbn
If you need the streoids, take them - Dr's orders trump Whole30 rules anyways. Will they impact your results? Maybe, but as you've said, Whole30 removes inflammatory foods from the system so should only help with your healing - and you could also add a few days on at the end if you feel like your results are skewed/delayed...In the meantime be sure to add in lots of bone broth for it's healing properties.Good luck & happy healing!
