cashnic72
Starting Whole30 today. I thought I had put on about 10 extra lbs, but I'm actually about 15 lbs up. I didn't weigh myself!! But I did happen to look at the Dr's scale at my appt yesterday. So at least I know where I"m starting from. But I won't get on that thing again until this whole thing is over. I hate scales and that was one of the best parts about this program, no scale guilt trips!! I have a big trip to Germany coming up on Sept 21, so that's my motivation. I don't want to go on one of the biggest trips of my life feeling overweight and yucky! I'm very excited to get started. I probably won't follow the first 7 day recipes exactly as they are written though because I don't have time to make stuff like "frittatas" before work! But I did make eggs with onion, tomato and hot sauce. Very good. But I eat eggs almost every day for breakfast so that won't be too difficult I don't think...we shall see. I was just excited that I got to eat 3 eggs instead of my usual one egg! I think my major culprit in the weight gain has been from wine. Darnit, I love the stuff and I can't have just one glass. I've known this for a long time but I just didn't have the motivation to change my ways. My biggest hurdle will be to deal with friends who want to have a "glass" of wine and get together...I'm going to have to say no and tell them that I'm doing the whole30 to feel better and get ready for my trip. This will be by far my biggest hurdle over the next 30-40 days.

gizmosan
I've forgotten the taste of beer i'm on week 4 and drinking ice tea or water when i'm out with friends at the bar has definitely been challenging. But i look around at all the overweight men, and think yeah, i don't need that sh!t! I definitely got tired of eating eggs, but then i added sweet potatoes and spinach to my breakfast and it became more tasty. cutting out sugar was the hardest thing for me, because a cookie here, a piece of chocolate there, my office is littered with amazing evil food that's all free. also reading the labels has become a treasure hunt, as it took a few days to find somewhere with almond milk that didn't have sugar added. You can do it!! i have a deadline of September also, i started on July 7th. Hi, cashnic72 - you definitely don't have to follow the menu in the book exactly, it's good to tailor it to suit your tastes and needs. Most people make frittatas or egg casseroles ahead of time and just reheat or eat cold for breakfast, so if you ever need something you can make on a Sunday evening to eat for a few days early in the week, that's something to consider. Don't forget to add fat to your meals -- it's a big part of what will help your meals last you 4-5 hours at a time and prevent you needing to snack between meals. For going out with friends, don't forget that it's really about spending time with people you like, regardless of what any of you are drinking. You can go and have a great time drinking club soda with lime or lemon in it. It is possible, although for some people it's uncomfortable at first.
