Two mornings ago (so morning of Day 3, I guess) I woke up and both my pointer fingers' joints hurt when I bent them. It hasn't gotten worse but it hasn't gotten better...it's somewhat concerning to me, could someone tell me if achy joints is a normal part of carb flu? GlennR Posted August 5, 2016 Share Posted August 5, 2016 It can happen. See here also. It's not necessarily a symptom of carb flu. It might be due to the specific foods you may be eating, and your body's reaction to them. Some people don't react well to nightshades, for example (like me), which they may eat more of on a Whole30 -- or it might be eggs. Just keep observing, and see if changing up what you're helps. I'm eating a lot of eggs but I always do - could it still be eggs if I was already eating them regularly? Basically, I'm wanting to know if given my timeline if this is a pretty "normal" side effect of the program or if I need to go to the doctor? It might still be eggs, sometimes you can eat something up to a certain point, and then when you get more than whatever your personal limit is, then you start noticing problems. This isn't really a normal side effect, although it's not completely unheard of. None of us here is a doctor, if the pain is bad enough that you're concerned, or if the joints are swollen, you should probably at least call and talk to someone in your doctor's office. If you want to try to track what things make pain like this worse, it's probably worth keeping a food log, whether that's here on the forum or somewhere else, where you note what you ate, in what quantities, and if you noticed any pain, digestive issues, things like being more tired -- anything, really, and then you can look back over time and possibly see a pattern.
