Judson50
This is my second round of Whole30 (lost 25 lbs first time, January; gave up soda and milk - haven't gone back) and since then I REALLY enjoy hard boiled eggs. (All from chickens we are raising). So now I literally crave them. Every snack I crave them. So my question is, Can I have 3-5 hard boiled eggs a day? JulieP757
Nothing wrong with eating that many eggs a day -especially from your own chickens (lucky you!). But are you eating them as a meal or as a snack? While snacking isn't against the rules, it's not recommended. Your meals should be large enough to last you 4 to 5 hours until the next meal. Moderators ShannonM816 Posted August 7, 2016 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2016 When you have eggs as the only protein in your meal, a serving size is as many whole eggs as you can hold in your hand, so for most people it's 3-4, some people even more than that -- although it's also fine to have some eggs and some other protein at the same meal if you ever don't want that many eggs at once. It's fine to have as many eggs as you want to eat in a day -- we've even had vegetarians who use nothing but eggs as their protein source throughout their Whole30, so they've consumed many, many more eggs than that. If you're concerned about cholesterol because of the eggs, you can google Whole30 forum cholesterol and find previous discussions about this, or check out this article for a little more information. If your meals are big enough, you should be going 4-5 hours between meals easily, and for most people, that means three meals and no snacks works well. If your days are much longer, or if you are truly hungry between meals, you may need a fourth meal or mini-meal -- aim to make that a mix of protein, fat, and vegetables, or at least two of the three. If you're not able to go 4-5 hours between meals easily, take another look at the meal template and be sure you're eating enough.
