HumblyHopeful
Drank a liter of club soda without thinking to check the ingredients because it was on sale & it is water! I can't find any resources on potassium sulphate/sulfate, but it sounds like a sulfite to me. Is this off plan? If so, do I need to start over? Thank you for any replies to a first time Whole30-er. Administrators ladyshanny Posted August 9, 2016 Administrators Share Posted August 9, 2016 A sulphate is different than a sulphite. You can have this product. Google "Whole30 common additives" and you'll find a cheat sheet with most of the common food additives listed.
HumblyHopeful
Thank you LadyShanny! Can finish day 5 with a clear conscience.
Bellmaestra
I don't like club soda because of the salt content. While some folks say club soda and sparkling water are the same, they're not. I'd look for sparkling water if possible. Just beware of added sugar. Stephanie
HumblyHopeful
Oh, good point! I will keep my eye out for sparkling water sales. A sparkling water is Perrier, right?
Administrators ladyshanny Posted August 9, 2016 Administrators Share Posted August 9, 2016 Couple things since you're still here. First, don't worry too much about sodium. When you eliminate almost all packaged/processed foods, you have eliminated most of your dietary sodium. Humans actually need sodium to function so we recommend that folks salt their foods liberally. You could also drink club soda. Second, keep an eye on how much of the bubbles you're drinking. They can cause bloating. Most of your liquid intake (half ounce per pound of bodyweight) should be in clear, still water.
Bellmaestra
I don't mind the sodium in club soda; just don't like the taste. As for sparkling water, La Croix is great; Perrier (but it's pricey). I checked one of the flavors of San Pellegrino and it had some sugar. Here in Michigan, Faygo makes a great sparkling water. But Lady Shanny is right; we're much better off getting a taste for plain old still water. I finally bought some La Croix yesterday just as a treat to inspire me for the last few days of the program. HumblyHopeful
La Croix has been my go to water intake, but I will switch to still water more now. This site is great! Thank you!
