Misvic
Hi everyone. Day 2 on whole 30! Hubby home recovering from his surgery so I thought this would be good time to start this. I have been using fitness pal but decided to try whole 30.
Hbombdiggity71
Hi, I think you made an excellent choice. I have a friend who has "tried" doing Whole30 but leaning more towards having gastric bypass. It's just not something I personally want to do to my body as there are so many potential complications and restrictions. I am on Day 11 and am feeling the Tiger Blood today. This my 4th official Whole30. I actually did a Whole100 in Jan 2015. Good luck to you. I hope you love the program. I sure do.
bellamama810
Good for you! Curious to know how it works out for both of you. I'm also starting the Whole 30 and my husband is prepping to have gastric bypass as well in a few months. I'm worried for him. He's type 2 diabetic with an amputation and has struggled with his weight and health since childhood. I'm hoping that by modeling this plan, he'll be able to see a possibility at least for maintenance in the future. GB is not a fix-all if the lifestyle doesn't change, right? Misvic
Definitely not. My husband was on 4 diabetes meds before surgery 2 days ago and now none.. That is his main reason for doing it. He had already lost quite a bit but the diabetes was still there. I'm excited for our new life.
Misvic
Heather, have you lost weight all 4 times?
bellamama810
That's great for him! That's why my husband is doing it too. He's actually had good success losing weight / getting healthy when we were first dating and he's done diets before but his diabetes is the main issue. He's aware that there are lifestyle factors that can reverse it but I don't think is prepared to commit and feels that not being able to exercise well (due to poor health and leg amputation and related aches/pains) is his main deterrent to a healthier life. We've had long talks about what this surgery will mean and that he will need to commit to a lifestyle change nutritionally if this is to succeed long-term. His endocrinologist feels this is the best path to get him off his diabetes meds. I know that weight loss for him will also decrease his leg pains (he often has severe nerve pain and has to rely heavily on painkillers). Good luck with your own program! I did something similar last year and had really amazing results... shocking, actually (I've tried a lot of different things over the years). Excited about getting back on track. Hbombdiggity71
Misvic, yes I have lost weight every time. I'm about 100 lbs over weight. I lost 22 lbs the first time, 8 lbs the 2nd, about another 20 during my whole100. I have since gained it all back so I'm hoping for similar success this round. I'm on day 12 and I've already noticed a huge difference in my clothes and the way I look in the mirror.

Based on the book ISWF, I was hoping that I could get to some of the core issues of why I crave certain foods and what causes me to go down a dangerous path during my whole30...so when I begin to reintroduce certain foods I would be in a better place to make healthy choices. Any insights? I'm trying to make sure I'm working all aspects to make sure I am making this healthy lifestyle something to continue...but am sure you had those same thoughts the prior to times (given I've been there done that myself but not with W30). Is there something you can pinpoint....something you might do differently this time?
