Sweetiepie
Has any one else had bad side effects from almond milk? My grocery store didn't have the unsweetened kind when I started the diet but about a week into the diet it became available. That first week I found improvement in my stomach upset and less inflammation and swelling in my feet and knees. Thought I was actually on to something but they have all gradually come back and I am feeling pretty bad again and am on Day 23 of the diet and clearly feel like this is a waste of time. The only thing I can think of is the almond milk, didn't catch it right away because the increase symptoms were gradual and I get so use to feeling really bad that a little bad wasn't so bad at first. I am going to hold off on it. Just wondering if any one else has had this happen to them?
jmcbn
How much of it are you using?
Sweetiepie
When I first started drinking it, it was about an 8 oz glass a day usually in the afternoon. But this last week more like two 8 oz. glasses because I am tired of water and coffee. By late afternoon before supper, I then have the worse stomach upset and by bed time lately it is to the point of cramps. I really hope that this is it because, how will I know what else is affecting me going into reintroduction week? Also, I have had my gallbladder out so I have not been drinking during meals or for about a half hour afterwards, like the book says and that has helped me so much with eating fatty foods. So the diet has not been a complete loss if this isn't it.
jmcbn
Yeah, that is A LOT of almond milk. We really only recommend using it in tea/coffee, and not in place of cows milk. Nuts can be hard on the digestive system at the best of times so I'd definitely switch back to water, and maybe liven it up with some fruit if you're bored - your tummy will thank you.
