Jojohealth
I'm on the eve of day 11 & the only thing I'm still finding hard is milk. I was a milk-coholic before the whole30, and am happy to use compliant coconut milk in my drinks, but can I drink this coconut milk on its own as a beverage? jmcbn
No, this is not something we would recommend except for breast-feeding mums. Stick with water as your main beverage, and add a splash of fruit juice or some fruit for flavour. You could also try compliant La Croix flavours or other seltzers, and fruit/herbal teas. A big part of Whole30 (apart from eating complaint foods) is trying to look at our relationship with food, break old habits and develop new & improved ones. The fact that you're looking for a replacement for your old milk habit kind of reiterates that it's a crutch and you need to break up with it. Are you getting enough fat in your meals? And enough food in general? This should really help with any cravings you might have... #reformedmilkcoholic
Sarasaurus
My W45 is done and I'm almost finished with reintroductions, but I'm curious about this. Once or twice during my W45, I realized that my breakfast was light on fat and since I had coconut milk in the fridge, I just drank a bit of it with my meal, as it's quick and tastes pretty good on it's own. I am definitely not a milkoholic, so it wasn't an attempt to satisfy an old habit, and it was with my meal. Do those conditions matter, or should coconut milk only be consumed as an ingredient in another dish (or in coffee?)?
jmcbn
A quick swig of coconut milk every now & then to up the fat content of your meal isn't ideal, but is okay (that creamy sweetness can become a FWOB for some people who are known to eat it straight from the fridge with a spoon) - sipping on a glass of it in place of cow's milk isn't.
