Cathy125
So I think I'm going to invest in one of these babies.... Seems both the 10.5 inch and the 12.5 inch are of equal popularity on Amazon... Any size recommendations from the Whole 30 community ? I'm the only one in the household following Whole30 but, do cook extra for many of my meals for leftovers or the occasional guest.. jmcbn
12.5 I have a smaller one and the only thing I ever use it for is frying eggs.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 1, 2016 Moderators Share Posted September 1, 2016 I use a Lodge 12.5 inch cast iron skillet and cast iron lid a lot to do what I call skillet roasting. I brown meat or chicken in the hot skillet on the stove top, add veggies, cover and let cook in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes. The food comes out pretty awesome all the time. The easiest thing is to cook chicken thighs (with skin and bones) with carrots or Brussels sprouts or both. The fat from the chicken infuses the veggies. You could cook enough for one person in a 10 inch skillet, but would need a 12.5 to make enough for two adults who eat hearty meals.
