I'm starting on Tuesday, 9/6 as well!  The monthly pot luck dinners are easier-you bring a dish you know you can have.  If there's salad, have some of that with your own dressing.  For weekly pizza, order salad as well (or bring a salad with chicken/hard boiled eggs for protein) and make that your dinner.  Encourage the kids to enjoy the food and just mention you're eating a little differently for the month.
