Melt
Well here we are...Day 2! Day 1: Enthusiastic... my bad missing out the PWO but at 5:20am if I eat before exercising I generally feel very sick. Breakfast each: 2 bacon, 3 eggs, 2 c.mixed vegies cooked in olive oil. One had black coffee the other had Earl Grey tea. (Note hubby was hungry mid-morning, had him hold his serving of eggs and realised his serving should be 4 eggs). Lunch: Me - 3c.vegies baked with a tin of tuna in oil, half an avocado. Lunch: Hubby - 2c vegies stir fried with olive oil, large pork chop, apple Dinner each: 2 protein-sized serving of pan-fried salmon (cooked with olive oil, with skin on) 2c. of steamed vegies. I added 6 grapes to my meal. Day 2: Hubby - feeling great. Me - headache, stuffy nose and resorted to taking headache tablets before work. Could not comfortably do up my work pants Breakfast each: 2c.mixed vegies cooked with 2 pieces chopped bacon and olive oil. Hubby had 4 eggs, I had 2. Lunch: Me - will have 2xprotein (ham cut into pieces), 1c salad vegies and 2c capsicum, mini tomatoes and zucchini roasted in olive oil. Half an avocado to top it all off. Lunch: Hubby - will have roasted chicken and vegetables and will choose a fat serving. Will probably have a piece of fruit as well. Dinner: Roast chicken and roasted vegies drizzed with oil. I need to go online and find ways to serve eggs and vegetables, or we may go mad!
Melt
Day 3 i am still headachey. DH feels brilliant...he's the one who used to eat far more processed food and rice than me! Bfast: each 3 c veggies and olive oil with serving of eggs. DH had bacon and coffee. Lunch: I had roasted veg in olive oil and leftover roast chicken with skin. It was my birthday lunch at work but I didn't indulge in cake, ate a few red grapes and a few slices of apple. DH had a banana. Dinner: roast pork and vegetables, serving of fats. Churlygirl
My headache spanned 3 days. Then it quickly vanished. I hope you feel better soon.

Do you remember the movie "Run Away Bride"? There was one scene where she was talking about her favourite way to prepare eggs, and it was always the same as the man she was with. Later in the movie she experiments with all the ways to prep an egg and discovers her favourite. Anyway, I just imagine you (and all of us Whole30ers) getting creative in the kitchen with poached, fried, scrambled, over easy, hard boiled and on and on and on.... Melt
Hehe Viva! Day 4 my internet crashed so I went to bed with my headachE, slept 10 hours straight and woke up feeling grand. Breakfast was dinner leftovers and eggs to supplement as there wasn't much protein left. Lunch no idea what hubby said as he made his own. No doubt it was eggs as that's all he can cook I was at a working lunch. Only compliant thing on the menu was a lovely grilled salmon fillet. It was absolutely yum but came with not one skerrick of veg or salad. Not even a garnish! Unfortunately by the time it arrived it was too late to order a side salad Dinner was a yummy baked mix-veg and chicken breast meal with olive oil. Handful of grapes. Day 5 again skipped PWO...Simply cannot face food before a run, ran 8km... slow and heavy-feeling but it got done. Eggs, avocado, left over veggie bake for breakfast. Same for lunch, topped off with a handful of olives. Being a person who likes leftovers has it's benefits! Dinner was vegetables with pork fillets and vegetables and I'm about to chase it down with some nuts. Happy days, now DH has the headache
DEMS2011
It doesn't sound like you need a grab-and-go breakfast, but even if not a Veggie Frittata is a great way to get tons of veggies, eggs and healthy fats in and you can change up the combo every few days so you don't get too bored! Some of my favorite combos are: Spinach & Tomatoes with dill, Kale and sweet potato, Tomatoes Mushrooms & Olives, and you can serve them all with some sliced avocado. You can also add ham, ground turkey, even smoked salmon into the frittata. Makes a great lunch too! Good luck to you and your husband, you're doing great so far! Melt
Day 6 not a success for me . Tried to do my long run of 14km. I tanked at 12.5km feeling dizzy and like I wouldn't get up if I sat in the curb. Actually sitting wasn't an option....living in Asia means I'd get run over or licked by a street dog if I sat! I trudged the last 1.5km to the restaurant to meet my running friends. After scoffing eggs, bacon, side vegetables and fruit plate I felt much better. Hubby by had leftover pork and veggies. Lunch we had a brilliant Thai green chicken curry (not much sauce did to the coconut milk limits). The Thai curry paste is compliant, being mostly garlic, onion and chillies. Bulked up with eggplants and other vegetables it was great. Dinner we had had lamb steaks and vegetables and shared a small purple dragonfruit afterwards. What are we missing? Well hubby is Asian and he is finding it very tough without 3 servings of rice per day. Also most food here has fish sauce in it (contains sugar) and/or MSG and they are light on protein (expensive) and heavy on rice/noodles (cheap, bulky). We are pretty much eating at home and take leftovers to work. Instead of a Sugar-dragon I have a Cheese-and-Dairy dragon So I am missing my milky coffees and creamy yogurts. But it's not too bad. If I could manage a bit of something as a PreWorkout meal then I wouldn't feel so naughty (non compliant!)
Jager07
Hi! Congrats to both of you for doing such an amazing job! Frittatas are the bomb! They last for a bunch of meals, are quick to make and very portable. My favorite is mushroom and spinach, with a bunch of garlic.
Melt
soooo Monday was Day 8 and .i learned a lesson about prepping food beforehand. A new week, fridge full of veg and we were rocking. Chopped 6 cups of veg for our breakfast before realizing I wasn't going to have time to eat it I dressed, threw mine in a box topped with a couple of eggs and a piece of bacon. I was solo freakin hungry by the time I got through my first two meetings and could finally eat at 10am. Lunch we had another veggie/avocado/meat dish..boring but After my lunchtime run I just needed something...anything... Dinner was delicious fresh prawns, shelled and lightly pan-fried with a squeeze of lemon, with salad. Sooo yum! I am really struggling with the large volume of vegetables, so today I re-studied the guides. Lo and behold, in the Rules & Recommendations list there is my savior - you can dual back the volume and eat less! Yay. Who would ever have thought they would want to voluntarily eat less? Melt
Day 9 started with another verge/egg dish eaten at work. Gotta get onto this frittata thing! Toddler woke at 4am for the day so DH got up with him. Winner! First test today - colleague's farewell. I prepared the cake and got it to the office in one piece and then ate apple slices and an open hand of cashews while everyone else indulged. It actually felt good, probably because I don't really have much of a sweet tooth. Lunch was some slices of air-dried beef and veggies with olive oil. Dinner was grilled salmon with both baked veg and a side salad - lots of the sides leftover for breakfast and lunch. Hubby continues to look better every day. His paunch is gone, his skin - normally quite dry - is clear and glowing, and (TMI) the man with constant bowel issues is regular! Woo-hoo!!! Happy days. DEMS2011
Great job getting through the weekend! My skin looking / feeling better with the first unexpected thing I noticed on my first go-around, and I'm thinking it's starting to look better this time, too (day 9 today for me too!). The fritattas do take some pre-planning (since they bake forever, it seems - 25-45 minutes depending on the amount of ingredients and oven temp), so I make sure to make them on the weekends and reheat. I was STARVING by the time I got to eat mine at work this morning (after pre-workout snack, workout & shower!). Best of luck this week!
Melt
Where did the time go? Busy busy here but we are still going. Hubby really does look amazing and went to a party this week wearing jeans that were too small when he bought them and now fit beautifully. I am seeing small changes, like my wedding ring fits better and my office pants fit slightly neater in the waist, but nothing dramatic. I am starting to feel more energetic though, and my runs no longer feel like I'm dragging a tree trunk behind me. I am starting to think about reintroduction, we are going overseas for four days immediately at the end of our 30 days, so I suspect it's going to be hard. But I'm keen to try and do it for as long as possible, especially for DH who had lots of bowel issues before and is no longer suffering.
Melt
Another long hard week at week. It's been very emotional as a colleague was involved in an accident on Monday. There was a fatality and another person had a serious injury. It was not his fault but still it has been a week of lawyers and sadness. I am however proud that my food remained on track and much as I would have loved a Gin and Tonic after the worst couple of days, I didn't cave. I've not exercised though, which is disappointing but mentally my mind has been elsewhere and my waking hours have been spent working on my colleague's situation. We are within a few days of reaching Day 30. I am finally in a routine and could easily keep going. I can tell I've lost a little weight but not really noticeable to anyone bar me, so I could stand to continue. Plus I am finally feeling like I have good energy. I am loving roast chicken and vegetables, especially for leftovers in lunch. I am disliking eggs. I am learning to like black tea now I splurged and bought fancy good quality stuff. I am on the fence about a number of everyday vegetables like cabbage and carrot, but very much enjoy greens, sweet potato (the night before a run) and salads. I learned I am not addicted to Diet Coke, it is the bubbles I love. Soda water suits me fine now. The DC habit is one I likely won't return to. So that's at least one lasting positive effect! Melt
Day 29! Now we are almost done I am actually finding it far easier to stick to the program! Today I ate two eggs, two small bacon and grilled mushrooms for breakfast. A leftover steak and roast vegetables for lunch. Handful of nuts following late afternoon run (forgot PWO snack). Grilled prawns for dinner with stir fried mixed vegetables. Small bunch of grapes.
