That said, if you are eating plenty of fatty fish (like mackerel, sardines & salmon for instance), eating eggs regularly and including mushrooms & beef liver (or red meat in general) you may well be getting enough from your diet, even with our UK climate.

I don't know if you are still checking this thread but what you've posted caught my eye because I suffer with SAD. Do vitamin D supliments help with this?

It's very unlikely that you can get enough vit D through food to raise your vit D levels if you are deficient.  3oz of salmon has ~750 IU, an egg yolk has ~40 IU, so if you are vit D deficient and don't plan on eating 100 egg yolks a day or 12 oz salmon every day, you probably need supplementation and lots of sun.
