Terri822
If I eat 2-3 omega enriched organic eggs a day (400mg per egg) is that enough to get a day or should I add in a fish oil? Lately I have been taking a fish oil (200 dha and 300 epa) once or twice a week because I forget but since I'm breast feeding I wonder if I should take it daily or if the eggs are enough? I don't eat much fish, mainly a lot of eggs, chicken and beef for protein. Thanks!
jmcbn
There isn't really an RDA (in the UK certainly, not sure about the US) for omega 3 although the guideline is around 500mg per day for DHA. An omega 3 enriched egg is thought to have around 100mg of DHA. The absolute best source is fish, obviously, but after that eggs are pretty far down the list of foods with omega 3 content - you could start adding some walnuts & ground flax-seeds (which is what the hens laying omega 3 enriched eggs usually have added to their feed) to your salads if you don't already as these are better sources. If you're going down the supplement route try an oil rather than a capsule.
