izzystonem
Hi everyone! Haven't used the forum till now but am currently struggling to reach a verdict as to how to move forward. As title suggests, I was on day 28 ((yesterday) of my insofar pristine whole 30 when I ordered a grilled chicken dish at a restaurant. The ingredient list included wheat berries, so I requested (as usual) that my food come without the grain. Was pretty hungry so I finished the chicken in a jiffy & then took a large bite into the salad, only detecting the small quinoa-like pieces in my salad after I was done swallowing (restaurant was super dark-even more in anguish knowing I could have avoided this if I had searched w/ candle prior to consuming). Anyway, the restaurant had neglected to completely remove the wheat berries. I stopped eating the salad immediately but probably ate at most 5 little berries or as little as one or two- was bloated last night and am concerned that even such a minuscule amount of grain could've sabotaged my progress. Just bummed cause so close to the next stage. Any thoughts/am I overreacting? Do people start over for this sort of thing? Thanks!!
jmcbn
Hey there & welcome to the forums In answer to your query, yes, people do start over for this sort of thing. Unfortunately your gut can't distinguish between an accidental bite or an intentional one, one mouthful, or a whole bowl, and so your gut re-set has already been re-set so to speak. Whether or not it's done much harm depends on your sensitivity to the offending item, and unfortunately without a reintro you don't know what your reaction would have been. Ultimately though you get decide how to proceed - have a read at >this article< and let us know your thoughts/plans...
