Teach2read23
Should I completely avoid maltodextrin during the reintro period? If it's derived from corn, could I have it when I reintroduce corn? Does the same go for corn syrup? Or is it just sugar?
jmcbn
Neither maltodextrin nor corn syrup contain trace amounts of corn protein, which is what would cause a reaction - meaning neither would really be suitable for a corn reintro, but that if you found that you were sensitive to corn you should still be able to eat products containing either ingredient. Corn starch may invoke a reaction but has only minimal amounts of corn protein and is generally deemed safe for those with a corn allergy. Hope this helps. Karen_Suep
Glad I stumbled onto this. I've been taking Tylenol to deal with minor pain from a sinus infection and have really only reintroduced dairy (which made the pain worse. Goodbye dairy) and it has corn starch.
