joachim
I ate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato_paste during my whole30. I have just read that this contains yeast. Should I do the whole30 again?
Susan W
I don't think I have ever seen yeast as an ingredient in tomato paste. It is simply made the same as tomato sauce, but then cooked down more and twice to get the moisture out for that nice thickness it has. Edit to add: Just make sure there isn't something weird like any kind of sugar or corn syrup.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 11, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 11, 2012 I don't see anything in the Wikipedia link about yeast in tomato paste. Yeast is not a particular problem as far as I know, but some tomato pastes are Whole30-compliant and some are not. You would have to check the ingredients on the brand you used. That said, I would probably not redo a Whole30 over a problem with tomato paste if you were happy with your results.
