KatieK436
Hello friends! Well I completed my second round yesterday! I feel as good as my first go-round in January but quite honestly I didn't see all the same non scale and scale victories. In fact, I didn't loss that much weight ( I know it's not about weight loss but you can't help but want or expect it). My first round was "textbook.". Now I'm second guessing what I did wrong. did I have too many carbs? My day usually included one fruit, a sweet potato, and sometimes spaghetti squash. I didn't push myself in the gym as I wasn't super motivated. I have an active job, on my feet 8 hours a day walking or moving sometimes lifting. Most days I needed a snack, and I'll admit there were larabar but NOT for the sugar fix. What's done is done, I can't re-do my 30 days right away, now is not a good time but maybe a whole 15 in October before a friends wedding. What I need from you all is some support to remind me of the non scale victories and that weight can't control me. Also is it possible to overdo it with the carbs, even the green ones? I'm just feeling a little down which is not what I want. Thank you all for your support... maybe some of you have been in similar situation? jmcbn
Hey katie - I'm gonna be honest here - if you were finding the need to snack then your meals weren't big enough (or well enough composed) and those larabars were doing you no favours. That aside, thinking about things other than weight loss (because it's entirely possible to become a healthier happier person but for your body to be happy at it's current weight - even if it looks a little different to how you imagine it, or how the media has made you perceive it) what improvements did you see? Did you sleep better? Have more sustained, steady energy throughout the day? Did you feel happier? Less stressed/phased about the small stuff? Are your nails stronger? Hair thicker or growing faster? Have your cravings subsided? If you can answer yes to any of the above then that is progress!! And you should be proud that you stayed true to your commitment and that you nourished your body in the best way that you could.... You did good!! This is so great what @jmcbnsaid! @KatieK436I am on my second round, day 3 right now. I decided (just now actually) not to weigh myself this time. I may when the 30 days is over, I may not. I was very particular about weighing the morning of day 1 my first round so I could see how much I'd lost. This time I just forgot to and am good with that. A not-mentioned-often(if ever) NSV I experienced after my first round (ended mid April 2016) through today is my label reading and recognizing skills. It may not sound like much but it's been huge in helping me work toward my Food Freedom because it means I've GOTTEN the essence of Whole30. I'm focused & mindfully, thoughtfully (most of the time) paying attention to what goes on my plate and in my mouth. If I don't lose a pound or gain any of the other typical non-scale victories this go 'round, I'm chalking this up as a win. And another step toward health for me. Hope you discover a non-scale victory you didn't notice at first. I know there is one! Completing the Whole30 again is a victory in and of itself. You KNOW that it's made you a healthier you whether you see that in a number or not. Chin up and fight on! PS I'm not sure that you "overdid" the carbs. It may look heavy when you type it out what you had at every meal but you're not showing the fat, protein and veggies you had along side. I think analyzing what you've been eating and how you can make adjustments that suit YOU is good. Just don't overanalyze and drive yourself bananas over it. Pun wholeheartedly intended.
