Petra_1975
Hi, i am ashamed to admit, but i crave vegetables (a lot). So much that i feel quilty about it as i know it is still a craving. As long as i'm busy, i'm fine and i can control myself and i don't snack between my meals. But the problem starts in the afternoon when i start cooking a family meal or my own meal. Then the food picking / craving / snacking starts and i lose all control. As i am cooking and standing there in the kitchen it is hard to find something else to do to distract myself. By the time it is time to eat, i have already so many vegetables, my belly is so huge and bloated, it makes me feel miserable. But despite that awful feeling, i still can't control the cravings. Any tips?
Administrators ladyshanny Posted September 7, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 7, 2016 Make sure you are eating enough at meals. Ensure that you have at least one fist sized serving of starchy veggie per day and that you are adding appropriate amounts of fat to your foods. Use the meal template as your guide. If you would like, post a few days of typical consumption including portions, specific types of veggies and fats as well as fluids, sleep, stress, exercise. Sometimes though, even though you are doing everything right, that "emotional hunger" needs to be gotten through. It's a slog sometimes but if you are overstuffing yourself on anything, veggies, fats, whatever, if it is not a regular meal time and is done in a more disordered way, the only way through that is....through it. Petra_1975
Thank you @ladyshanny. I think you're right about not eating enough of certain foods. I have trouble digesting starchy foods. Been on a low fodmap, very low fructose diet as i bloat very easily. Any starchy veggies or fructose food causes gas. This is also my main reason to do this whole30, to get rid of the everyday bloat and create a healthy relationship with food (FOOD FREEDOM). Any suggestions what to eat that is low fodmap, low fructose but is filling enough to keep me satisfied? Thank you so much for being helpful! Carrot, parsnip & turnip/rutabaga are my go to starchy veg - I'm also a low FODMAPer. In terms of fat I live on mayo, but also eat quite a lot of olives, brisket, oily fish, EVOO, ghee & lard
