Hpmerica
I am on day 24, and I have had some great things happening. The first thing I noticed on day 6 was my joint pain was gone. I have always had stiffness and tenderness in my hand joints in the mornings, and it was gone. Yesterday morning I woke up and noticed my hand a little stiff, I tried to think if I had eaten anything different or anything that could have had an ingredient that wasn't compliant. This morning it was even worse, so I have gone through everything I have eaten and the only things that were new are: Roasted chicken thighs I had on Sunday dinner and Monday dinner I used tessamaes zesty ranch for marinade and had cauliflower rice and broccoli with it. Tuesday night I made a shrimp scampi with tessamaes lemon garlic now usually I have this with cauliflower rice but instead I made zucchini noodles but added a half a mashed avocado to the tessames as a creamy sauce for the zoodles. I have been eating all of these ingredients during my whole30, so I wouldn't think it would cause a relapse. I will admit though, the zoodle dinner I think I ate too much of it. It was a learning experience for me, as pasta has always been my kryptonite and the creaminess and buttery goodness of the sauce reminded me a bit of my pasta alfredo fetish, so I made a mental note that it is my food with out breaks. The only other thing that I thought of is I have been on antibiotics for 6 days for strep throat. Would it take 5 days for a reaction to happen to my system? Also If it is the antibiotics, any suggestions on what I can do to help facilitate my system to get back on track. I do take a probiotic, I wasnt sure if I should still take them both at the same time. I googled it when I first got the prescription and had read that I should make sure that I space them at least 2 hours apart and that it could be helpful. jmcbn
Hey there Sorry to hear the joint pain has made a come-back. From the foods you've described it's difficult to say if anything there could be the culprit... Joint pain is often associated with nightshades, so I'd wonder if you've been eating any kind of volume of those? Potatoes (some people are more sensitive to the skin specifically), peppers, tomatoes...? If you could list out a few days worth of your food intake giving specifics on veg types etc we can hopefully help you to troubleshoot. With regard to the anti-biotics you could add some bone broth to your daily routine - it's great for healing the gut, and yes, keep up the probiotics. Hpmerica
Thank you. I have been eating a lot of sweet potato, but I havn't been eating white. I did have tomatoes last night and Wednesday night in my taco salad. I made my own taco seasoning - does chili pepper cause inflammation? I have made this taco salad before in my plan. I probably need to watch my water intake too. I will keep taking the probiotics, I was going to put a temp hold on taking them till I was off my antibiotics, if it was counter productive. The bone broth I tried early on in my Whole30 , it did not go well. I bought one of the partner brands frozen at Whole Foods, heated it up one morning, could not drink it. Ive been wanting to try to make my own and use in a soup recipe. I will eliminate tomatoes for now, hoping that helps. Today I feel even worse than yesterday. I am a little frustrated, but I keep telling myself that my sugars are still amazing, and Ive eliminated all snacking, my clothes are still loose, and Im really getting into my Whole30 groove. Thanks so much for your feedback, none of my family or friends really understand "this crazy diet" I am doing. So I am thankful for your forum, and social media pages, I feel like Im not doing this by myself.
Katrina Simeck
Have you tried adding Collagen Peptides? I've found that my joint pain is greatly decreased since I started adding Collagen to my diet.

It can do, yes, if nightshades are an issue so I'd eliminate that along with the tomatoes and see if there is any improvement. Let us know how you go.... clayelliott
Hpmerica - did you ever determine what was causing the joing pain? I suffer from joint pain in my lower back (facet joints specifically). 16 days into the W30 the pain has not decreased. Wondering what to try... I have been eating a bit of sweet potatoes so maybe I'll try removing them
Hpmerica
clayelliott I did start taking a collagen supplement and a probiotic that helped alot. I still get joint pain from time to time, mostly when I am not drinking enough water or if I have eaten something with gluten or wheat . I completed a Whole47 and I am feeling great. I eat a half a sweet potato in the morning and a half for lunch it doesn't cause any issues with my joint pain or blood sugar; but everyone is different. Maybe try a collagen supplement or bone broth. I was unable to do bone broth on a daily regular basis so I take the collagen supplement instead. I know some nightshade vegetables can cause joint inflammation (white potato, eggplant, peppers, tomato) if you are eating any of those, maybe cut those out and see how you do. Hope you are feeling better soon, Whole30 has changed my life.
