3rd W30 - in Stockholm

Day 0

Getting ready for my third W30. Last time was in 2013. I have kept the weight off since then, and most of the good habits.

But this summer has been a little bit less healthy. I have been drinking too much wine and eating too many sweets. There is a huge need for a fall clean-up, a ”body decluttering”, similar to the one I will be conducting in my apartment.

I am starting tomorrow, Sunday September 18, which is also the day my son leaves for London, UK, to start university.

I will be all alone at home, since my partner lives in LA. Son in London and partner in LA does not make life easier, but might at least help W30. 

Still, there will be a few challenges over the next couple of days (especially the first week), but I am committed to make this third W30 work as well as the previous ones.

Hi there I'm on my first go at the whole 30 and I'm loving it I find it much easier to do by myself then I don't have to mix things up for the kids plus my partner is a chef so he tries to sneak things in that arnt allowed I wish you the best of luck

Day 1: A NEW BEGINNING – OF EVERYTHING!!!

Today is really a new beginning. Of everything. Son moved away from home, I started writing a new book and I committed to do my third W30 as well as a meditation program.

Instead of falling into an empty-nest depression, I am trying self-compassion: eating well, working out, meditating, and engaging in a fun, new book project! That is also where W30 comes in.

FOOD

B: 2 eggs, ½ avocado, ½ grapefruit + espresso

L: grilled salmon, eggs, tomato + espresso & nectarine

D: roasted chicken, fennel, onions & sweet potatoes

S: raw bar

MOOD

Empty-nest syndrome!!! Son moved to London to start university TODAY. After 20+ years together, the majority as a full-time single mother, I am all alone at home… But at least it makes W30 easier!

MOVE

Gym: chest & metabolic conditioning.

MIND & SOUL

Saw Satyagraha for the second time. Philip Glass + contemporary circus + Bhagavad Gita – what could be better???

Meditated 10 minutes. Started new program on Headspace.

SLEEP

7.5 hrs. 1.30-9. Stayed up too late, skyping with love in LA.

Day 2: Sleepless night

Barely no sleep. Son was having an anxiety attack in London, and I was on the phone to 12.30 am and then again from 3:45 am. That means 3 hours of sleep. And lots of anxiety.

Then I made a mistake at dinner and had a non-compliant sausage, so now I have to re-start the program! So stupid!! Well, well, I have a dinner party tomorrow, so I will re-start on Wednesday instead. That is OK.

FOOD

B: 2 eggs, ½ avocado, ½ grapefruit + espresso

L: roasted chicken, fennel, onions & sweet potatoes

D: sausage & sauerkraut (sauerkraut was fine, but the sausage was not compliant, so I need to start over… today is not my day!!!)

S: raw bar, fruits & a little bit of almond butter.

MOOD

Terrible. Lots of anxiety. And anger.

MOVE

Skipped morning spinning class, due to lack of sleep. 30 min PW + 60 min Vinyasa Flow.

MIND & SOUL

Meditated 10 minutes.

SLEEP

3 hrs. 12.45-3.45. Not OK. Power nap in the afternoon.
