Robertaworley
Does anyone, other than myself, own a Vitamix? Have you made your own soup, coconut milk, almond milk or anything else Whole30 compliant with it? I've had mine for about five years, but I never used it (sad to say) for other than making smoothies, which of course, are not compliant. Suggestions are welcome. Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted September 19, 2016 My wife gave me a Vitamix 5-6 years ago. I have not used it for at least 4 years. A stick blender replaced everything the Vitamix was good for in my world.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted September 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted September 19, 2016 Yes, I've made coconut milk (great!) almond milk (ok) and soups (I prefer the stove, but it's fantastic for the final step if you're making a pureed soup. You can also use it for making not-too-thick dips, sauces and I have used it to blend up herbs, aromatics and liquid for marinades.
SpunkyBug
It's great if you need to absolutely pulverize everything in a sauce or soup or whatever. But I used mine to make a tahini-based sauce recently, and it came out like water!
MeadowLily
I haven't touched mine in 2.5 years. I've stopped that smoothie habit and it's too fast for mayo.
susanleaf
Love my vitamix. I recently made almond flour - so easy. Coconut flour will be easy as well. Pureed soups like tomato and butternut squash. Mayo - easy and delicious. Will never buy store bought again. I will do milks in my vitamix. Before Whole 30, did pizza dough in the Vitamix. The best pizza dough I ever made and best pizza ever. No need to buy pizza.
laura_juggles
I use it for big batches of scrambled eggs (on weekends I cook lunch and dinner for ~20 people outside over an open fire...lots of pre-weekend prep). I use it for blending soups because I like them more uniformly pulverized than I can do with the immersion blender.
Robin R.
I don't have a Vitamix, but I have a Nutri Ninja which is pretty powerful. I can easily make nut butters, riced cauliflower and cabbage. I use it frequently!
Rhonda_W
I use my Vitamix a lot, especially this time of year for soups. One of my secret weapons is pureed cooked cauliflower as a "thickener." It works great in my chicken chili - my husband has yet to figure out there's cauliflower in his chili! I will have to try almond milk.
