ellie4
I'm on day 17 of a Whole120. My asthma used to be really well-controlled when I was eating AIP in an attempt to treat my rare headache disorder, New Daily Persistent Headache. I stopped eating Paleo because it didn't affect the headache, but now my asthma is totally out of control. My doctor thinks it's possible these are related, so I am going to eat paleo until my next test on January 4. I want to transition to being fully AIP within the next week or two as well. My problem is that my class schedule is making this really difficult. I generally eat breakfast around 6:30 (veggies, meat, cooked in olive oil). The tricky part is that then I don't generally have time to eat lunch until 3:00. I do eat snacks at about 11:00 (had been eating nuts, switching to eating some avocado) and 12:00 (apple) as I go between classes. Then both lunch and supper are salads because I don't have any access to a microwave at school. I find that I am hungry a lot of the time, and this is not great. I am a music performance major who plays a wind instrument (bassoon) so controlling my asthma is extremely important to me. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks! ArtFossil
Cooked meats, roasted vegetables, tinned fish and olives or avocado travel well and can easily go all day without refrigeration. Just eat them at room temperature -- no microwave required. If you want hot food occasionally, invest in a thermos.
ellie4
Oh my gosh, how did I not think of a thermos? Thanks for the suggestion!
ArtFossil
You can also get large insulated lunch bags, but I like to travel light and just slip food containers into bags I already have, including a neoprene lunch bag that's held up for seven years so far. jmcbn
Just as an aside & re the asthma, when you weren't eating paleo/primal were you including dairy? Research shows that there is undoubtedly a link between the two... As a total aside I played clarinet in school, but always wanted to play sax..... ellie4
Yeah, I was eating dairy, along with wheat, sugar, and all sorts of processed food. Not surprising that's connected, really. I have a feeling that there's more to it than dairy for me, but who knows at this point. And I play the bassoon, though I started on clarinet.
