Day 50, Coconut Sugar anyone?

Coconut sugar really isn’t any different to regular cane sugar except that it may have a lower glycaemic load (although current research only presents a range - and quite a wide one at that!). That said it’s fructose content is exactly the same, gram for gram, as that of regular sugar, and whilst it does contain low levels of nutrients (zinc, calcium & potassium) you’d have to be eating bucket loads of the stuff to be getting beneficial quantities – which would be out-weighed by the volume of sucrose/glucose/fructose you’d be ingesting.

In short, sugar is sugar is sugar, and your liver doesn’t differentiate between sources.
