violetta
I am on day 10 of my second Whole 30 and certainly not losing any belly fat. Last time around, by this time I was feeling great and this time I was feeling pretty good until about day 6 when I had horrible burning and stomach pain. So I increased my food intake, more coconut oil, higher quantity of veggies and meat, even ate a little bacon one day and now I am feeling seriously bloated and nothing is fitting. My stomach is not burning and I have a reasonably amount of energy but the bloating is making it hard to want to stay on it. My meals are normally a couple eggs and some raw veggies and fruit for breakfast with tea and nutpods and a little coconut milk and flax for breakfast, some stir fried meat or fish or eggs in coconut oil and lots of veggies and some avocado for lunch, and some fish or chicken and steamed veggies or salad or chicken soup for dinner. I am eating at least an avocado a day and having a small amount of potatoes with most meals and following the template. I am using more coconut oil and less ghee than last time but otherwise mostly the same. I am sleeping a whole lot better and my stomach is really doing better but the increasing belly fat is disconcerting to say the least. I am never hungry and don't crave any food at all. I am eating a little more fruit because I was very constipated last time and the fruit has helped. I am sure I have gained at least 5 pounds in a little more than a week. Help! CoffeeBean
I've seen a lot of advice to lay off the nutpods, sometimes reduce avocados and I'm pretty sure flax is acceptable but not ideal (like chia seeds, technically compliant but in small and sparse doses). I was highly surprised to find that hazelnuts cause such digestive upset for me (they've been a regular part of my diet for years before this). I've seen moderators suggest nuts are an inferior source of fat, and nutpods have caused concern for several members. Maybe search FODMAPs and try limiting or eliminating some key culprits from your diet.. It helped me! Last thing.. perhaps you're on schedule with the "What to expect" timeline (for bloating). It might provide some comfort to scroll through it again. Hope you feel better soon!
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted October 4, 2016 Moderators Share Posted October 4, 2016 In addition to what @CoffeeBean said above, some people find that raw vegetables can cause gas and bloating -- you might try cooking all your vegetables for a few days and see if that helps, and then pay attention when you add back in raw vegetables to how much of them you can eat before you start to experience the bloating again. Karen_Suep
If you're eating a lot more of something (like coconut or avocado) than you had been, try limiting or eliminating it for a few days to see if it helps.
violetta
Thanks, it is day 13 now and still not getting the feeling that I had last time of a sort of cleanse or hollowness in the good way. Still not so much bloated as just feeling like I am eating too much and gaining weight, I stopped all nuts and almond butter except the nutpods. I might have to quit if I don't have the nutpods, really the only way I can stand coffee but just using the plain, no hazelnut, that stuff is nasty. I forgot to buy any ghee yesterday so I will try to make some and cut back on the coconut oil. The flax is an attempt to lower my cholesterol, it was pretty high after the last Whole 30 and I can't stand that pysillum fiber. I am trying to see if I can eat less flax and still have some affect. Just everytime I eat, I feel like the food is getting stopped in my stomach and staying there for too long. I never had that feeling before. I am trying digestive enzymes and they help a little but maybe I just need some probiotics. I ate a lot of yogurt pre-WHole 30. Maybe my body is missing it. violetta
Maybe this fits in the troubleshooting category, maybe not but everytime I post it says something is wrong and then it posts twice and I have to delete one!

Hi @violetta - we know about the forum issues, they are under repair at the moment. You can continue to post even with the error. It does duplicate but don't worry about it. The mods try to delete the dupes but it's not the end of the world.
CoffeeBean
Have you tried coconut cream (or full fat coconut milk) in place of the nutpods for the coffee? Might be a worthwhile swap
violetta
No, I haven't, will try it today but the issue does seem to be improving, not quite as bloated and feeling a little thinner, not much, not like last time but some.

I use whipped coconut cream with no sugar/extracts and love it in my coffee. It reminds me of when I was a kid and would put whipped cream in my hot chocolate on cold days. Crastney
are you drinking enough water?
violetta
Maybe not. Didn't really like the coconut cream, nut pods makes my coffee white which is a little mind game to make it seem like cream. But the bloating is over, just not losing a lot of size this time. Maybe that is all the size my body wanted to lose and I am at equilibrium.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted October 14, 2016 Moderators Share Posted October 14, 2016 I usually get the bloat about halfway through. It goes away. If you don't really like coffee without a lot of stuff in it, you may want to go without or switch to tea.
