First, no one here is  a doctor. If your doctor has told you to take something, or not to take something, go with what they've said.

It's hard to find truly compliant medicines, most have something non-compliant in them. That said, we don't want you to be miserable either, so if you need the Zantac and that's what you'd usually take, you can take it. If you are looking at options, look for the medicines that have the least extra stuff in them -- typically, this means pills over liquids, as liquids tend to have stuff added to make them taste better, usually including sweeteners. For headaches, Tylenol is less disruptive to your stomach/digestive tract than NSAIDS like Advil or Aleve.

For acid reflux bear in mind that very often the issue is not enough stomach acid rather than too much, meaning the stomach has to work harder to pump what little acid there is around, causing a 'back flow'. If this is the case a spoonful of Apple Cider Vinegar after a meal (followed by a glass of water) is all you need. Antacids only serve to worsen the problem.

Of course if the problem genuinely is too much stomach acid then this isn't going to help.....
