Excessive burping and gas

When I first started Whole30 I had excessive burping and gas throughout the day for about the first week. It tapered off for a while but now that I am on day 25 I've started noticing it again. I'm not eating eggs or nightshade veggies. Here's what I ate yesterday.

Breakfast: stir fry with ground beef, nepa cabbage, celery, onion, apple with cinnamon, and half a grapefruit

Lunch: salad with peppers, cucumber, beets, avocado, cilantro, with pesto and olive oil dressing, baked chicken wings with salt and pepper and oil

Dinner: pork and sauerkraut, mashed cauliflower, salad with cucumbers, avocado, peppers, and homemade Italian dressing

Most breakfasts I eat a soup, most lunches I eat a salad with a protein, most dinners I have a sweet potato, protein, and a couple of veggie sides. I didn't see much mention about burping. What can I do about the burping and gas?

I experienced a lot of that too. It's not pretty. I believe it comes from all of the fiber I am now consuming. Before W30, I was probably taking in 15-25 grams of fiber each day. Now it's somewhere between 30 and 50 grams with all the veggies, fruit and delicious avocados. For me, increasing my water, adding digestive enzymes, and eating more slowly, has really helped a lot. And by water, I drink between 12 -18 glasses a day. Good luck!

Digestive enzymes - I have just read the blog on this because I too have had terrible wind (always have) but thought it would get better on the Whole30. When I read the article it made me worry!! This is a horrid topic but I have noticed really big changes in my stools, which I put down to better eating with more fibre. I have never been a person that had regular bowel movements I could go days without going, then doing the whole30 I became more normal and I go daily but they always float now I see from the article about enzymes that this isn't normal argh. I am on day 30 of my whole30 I wonder if I have been doing something wrong to create this? Have I always had a problem? I am feeling very confused now, can anyone help. Sorry for the nasty topic just before lunch :)

Jfb, I' say ditch the cruciferous veggies (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts etc.) for a few days and see what happens. They make a lot of people gassy. Here's an article from Dr. Weil about some things you can do if you eat them anyway (fennel? Who knew?), which he thinks you should: http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA366540
