Joanne143
HI, I unfortunately did not have a partner to do this with. I just finished a full week. I believe I am not eating enough and I am hungry between meals. I believe I am not eating enough protein and fat. I will work on trouble shooting this tomorrow. My fear is- as I have an old belief that "less is more" I am actually afraid to eat ALL of that is recommended in one sitting. I was always the person who ate frequent mini meals and needed too! Any feed back advise would be welcome.
becs
I'm no expert, but becoming "fat-adapted" is a big part of the program - when your body learns to use fat as energy rather than carbs. Carbs are easier for the body to use, so if it's used to a lot of sugar and other carbs as its go-to energy source, it takes some time for it to learn how to use fat instead. That being said, you've got to give it enough fat for it to work. If you take away all those carbs and don't replace them with healthy proteins and fat, you're going to end up tired and hungry. I would say trust the program, follow the meal template, and see what happens. I bet if you do that, you'll find yourself able to go five hours between meals without getting hungry. I was a grazer, too, but after 13 days I don't ever get hungry between meals. Of course, if you do truly stick to the meal template and don't see any improvement in hunger after a week or so, maybe come back and ask for advice again (from people who know much more than I do!). The foods you're eating now will keep your blood sugar stable. As becs has said above a big part of the program is about teaching your body to use it's fat as fuel, rather than constantly topping up with the instant source of fuel that is sugar. Build each of your meals to match the template. Be generous with the fat as this will provide satiety as well as keeping any cravings at bay. And remember to salt your food and drink the recommended half an ounce of water per pound of body weight, daily. Keep checking in to let us know how you're getting on....
