juliebug61
I'm both looking forward to the challenge of the Whole30, and anxious about my ability to stick with it. My goal is to detox my body and hopefully help my metabolism, asthma and allergies. My niece and I are both starting together and will be a support for each other, but we're both newbies. I know I'll need the advice of the community to get me through. Looking forward to learning from everyone. Julie
Kellygirl61
Hi Juliebug My name is Kelly and my tagname is Kellygirl61. Tomorrow, Nov 1st, is my Day One too. I am ready but also nervous. I haven't done alot of prepping and am wanting to use up alot of what I have at home right now. My goal is to get a better relationship with my food and my body and also to lose some weight. I also plan to journal alot. I would love to support you during your Whole30 run!! We can do this together, cousin included. My email is mrsgust[email protected] and I am from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. Best wishes for a great Day 1.
juliebug61
Great to have company on the journey! I'm with you in trying to use up what we have in the fridge first. Day one almost complete, and so far a success! I hope your Day 1 went well too. My biggest challenge is going to be all of the work treats (I'm an elementary school principal and students love to bring me their birthday treats!). The second challenge is going to be card night with our friends. If I can conquer those challenges, I'll be in good shape. Like you, I have started a journal. I find writing things down keeps me accountable. What do you see as your biggest challenges?
Kellygirl61
Hi Julie, A big congrats to you on completing Day One!! I was able, with actually little or no blips, to complete mine too. Hurray for both of us!! I did notice twice some habitual mannerisms...actions I do without thinking. I was heading for the cupboard where I used to keep the microwave popcorn!! I used to do a bag almost every night!! Keeping to the three meals with occasional snacks is new for me. I have a small, lovely salon in my home and find myself "grazing" between clients. They are like your students and bring lots of treats!! I feel a challenge with our friends, too. We'd often head out to dinner as a group. The biggest thing coming up is on November 25th - it's called the "Mistle Toe Mixer"...wine, tables and tables of snacks and good music. At least it doesn't start until 7pm and I can eat my Whole30 dinner prior. ...plus...I'll have 25 days under my (loosened) belt. I'm hoping each day brings strength. I have taken to drinking herbal tea, too and learned that I need to read those ingredient labels!! My Vitamin C tablets are FULL of a form of sugar, too! WOW!! I find it fascinating! Hope your Day 2 is strong, healthy and has a couple of good laughs in it, too. Take Care Kelly

juliebug61
Welcome Patsy! We can all muddle our way through together! Kelly - Like you I caught myself heading to the cabinet at school with the chocolate about mid-afternoon. It was easy though to stop myself (so far). So far I have passed up a birthday both yesterday and today from students. So far this has been easier than when I've tried changing how I eat in the past. I tried eating Paleo a few years ago and I found it more difficult. I think Whole 30 is so cut and dry that I don't have to guess if a food is okay to eat. This weekend will present a challenge. My husband, John, brews his own beer and several couples are getting together who are also home brewers for a "Beer Summit". John is wondering how I can go to a Beer Summit and not drink any beer. This will be a challenge, but I've told him I will be the designated driver. The beer will be around when I'm done with my 30 days : ) 2 down, only 28 to go!
