GeorgiP
Hello! This is my first W30 post and I have to say, what a crazy year this has been! To begin, in February, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Now, I realize that so many of us, either in this W30 community or in society, are plagued with T2; however, I'm not your typical T2. I'm 49 years old, I weigh 120 lbs, my HDL/LDL levels are excellent, triglycerides are 98, my BP was 110/68 at my last doctor's appointment. I consider mysely realitvely active (I love to run...5 K's) and my friends and family would say the same about me. To say the least, this diagnosis shocked me! The only outlier at diagnosis was my elevated A1C. I was entirely FRUSTRATED by this diagnosis and by the fact traditional medicine wants to treat the diagnosis...not the individual. As an atypical diabetic, the advice from the ADA and my medical team lacked an acceptable solution for me. After many months of listening to what traditional medicine was telling me, followed by many months of conducting my own research and due dilligence, I found the Whole30. This has been my single greatest discovery of 2016! It makes so much sense! Contrary to what my endocrinologist advised, I had cut out most of wheat/grains on my own prior to the W30 (they spike my blood sugar levels). I am now celebrating DAY 17!!! Additionally, my 14 year old son, Toby, is celebrating DAY 17 along with me! We have a buddy system and he keeps me going after those long days at work, when I want an "easy" way out of dinner. He and I have noticed improved sleep, clearer skin, and our pants are more loose than normal - and we have energy to burn! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this program.
