Coopergirl
The label says 3gm sugar per serving but the ingredient list looks compliant. Here's the ingredient list: Water, Organic Carrots, organic celery, organic onions, organic tomatoes, organic carrot juice concentrate, organic tomato paste, organic leeks, organic garlic, organic onion juice concentrate, sea salt, organic seasonings (parseley, thyme, bay leaf, black pepper( organic olive oil. Thanks in advance!
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted November 5, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 5, 2016 This is fine, the ingredient list is king on the Whole30... the nutrition label doesn't matter as all veggies have natural sugars.

Jillybean2017
Is organic tomato paste compliant/ok to use? Thanks!
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted December 29, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 29, 2016 Organic or not organic is not the deciding factor... it's the ingredients... are the ingredients compliant?
Jillybean2017
It's hard to tell. My veggie stock ingredient label reads, "filtered water, organic onions, organic carrots, organic celery, organic tomato paste, organic spices, organic garlic, organic expeller pressed canola oil and/or organic safflower oil and/or organic sunflower oil*, and sea salt". The * mentions "*adds a trivial amount of fat". Wondering altogether if this stock in itself is A-OK to use? Thanks for your help, SugarcubeOD! Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted December 29, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 29, 2016 The tomato paste in this situation is okay... here's a way in which it would be listed that it would not be okay: ... organic carrots, organic celery, organic tomato paste (sugar, tomato), organic spices.... The problem unfortunately with this particular stock is not the tomato paste, it's the canola oil... canola oil is only approved for use in eating out, not for eating at home... can you find a stock without this? Or make your own veggie stock? That would be the most delicious and super easy.... dump your veggies in a crock pot, add spices, cover with water and cook on low for 8 hours... strain and season to taste... the cheapest way to do this is to keep a bag in your freezer to put all your veggie offcuts into and then use them for stock.
