LizBeam
Hi guys! Day 2 on my 3rd whole30. I have to admit I have plugged macros for 1 1/2 years now and I want to do this whole30 as strict as possible! So I'm NOT plugging my macros in. Now, I usually get up at 4am have coffee w/coconut milk while I coach my two CrossFit classes in the am, then I teach a class at the college, & workout around 9am. I've been eating chicken thighs and sweet potato (postWO) immediately after my workout. Then I have "breakfast" around 11:30 before I coach my 12pm CrossFit class. I'll then have lunch at around 2-3 then ofcourse dinner at around 6 or 7 depending on if I coach my night class or not. I just choose not to eat before my workout as I like the way I feel more. Am I doing it right? Thanks!!!
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted November 16, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 16, 2016 You're eating your 'breakfast' 7.5 hours after you get up or am I reading that wrong? That's not ideal for a number of reasons, one being your cortisol levels. I would also wonder if you were eating enough because if you eat at 1130 and then again at 2, are you eating very much at the 2pm time? Maybe it would be best if you can post your meals including portion sizes so we can take a look. One thing to note, chicken thighs aren't your best protein for post workout as they're not really lean. Good work on the sweet potato, but try switching that meat to chicken breast? LizBeam
Yes, you read that right. Oops! I just have very limited time. I'll eat before my WO though. Fat and protein preWO right? And I'll switch to chicken breast. Normally I'll have my chicken and sweet potato then normal leftovers "lunch" so like yesterday it was shrimp (bout 4oz) and zucchini noodles with romesco sauce (bout 1/4 cup then 3 baby back ribs with Brussels sprouts and a spring mix with temassae lemonette dressing and walnuts. Then dinner was chicken primavera (whole30 bout 5 oz) and sweet potato noodles.
ThyPeace
To answer the title question, no, it doesn't sound like enough food to me. Also, with a 4am wakeup, what time are you going to bed and are you getting enough sleep? If you're eating dinner at 7pm, I would think your head needs to be on the pillow by 8pm. Not much time for digestion and relaxation after eating, there. ThyPeace, very fond of enough sleep (which will also help with cortisol levels).
