NatalieCatalie_
I've searched all over this forum and there's not a whole lot of info regarding sleep apnea. I'm hoping others can chime in and express their experiences and questions regarding this disorder. I recently had a consultation with a sleep specialist and he said I most likely have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Due to the lack of providers in my area, I am not getting a sleep study done until next month. Hopefully that will conform the diagnosis and I can start using a CPAP or other form of treatment. I'm on Day 21 of Whole30 and everything is going great except for energy. I'm constantly tired, oversleep, sleep through multiple alarms in the mornings, and have a hard time staying awake at work most days. It's been going on for over a year now, but it seems to be getting worse the past month or so. I have gotten several tips (for which I'm very grateful) such as sleeping on an incline, avoiding sedatives, etc. but nothing has really seemed to make an impact. I may have to wait a little longer for that Tiger Blood to kick in, I guess.
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted November 22, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 22, 2016 Hi Natalie I've seen your other posts around and you have gotten some good advice. Unfortunately, the energy a lot of people feel when they do a Whole30 is not something that will probably be able to overcome a medical issue like OSA. That's not to say that you don't have benefits, which I'm sure you probably do, and when you see your sleep specialist, you can know for sure that food is likely not playing any part in this issue, which is huge, however 'Tiger Blood' as it is touted by many may be different for you. If your condition has been going on for some time, you likely have quite a vast sleep debt that will need to be made up over time once you get your cpap and sleeping plan in place. Good luck! NatalieCatalie_
@SugarcubeOD thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it It's actually reassuring to know that the fatigue is not any fault of mine, per se, but rather just what OSA is doing to me.
