seasonjohnson
Hi! I have committed to a January 15th start date. I am excited and nervous for this! I have never done anything like this before, but have been thinking about Whole 30 for several months now. It will definitely be a test of my willpower and strength. As a type 1 diabetic, I need to make sugar disappear from my life, and I am hoping this will be sustainable for me! Anyone else starting in January? T1Dave
My wife and I just started yesterday (Jan. 1). I'm a T1 Diabetic and wear an insulin pump with sensor. This will be my second whole30. After the last one, I had my best A1c in my life! The trickiest part is getting my night time basals figured out. Otherwise, my bolus doses are almost not used at all. At one point, I even took my pump off for a day to see what would happen (of course monitoring my bgs very closely) and while it did rise, it was nice knowing that it wasn't out of control. I typically keep some glucose tablets on hand to handle lows (and don't feel bad about them being non compliant). I will be purchasing some Juicy Juice boxes instead this time to try instead of the tablets. It's really tough at first, but by the second week, I was feeling and sleeping so much better and the meal planning got much easier. Don't make it more complicated that it has to be. Good old grilled chicken with green beans and carrots is a very easy meal. Good luck and reach out if you have any trouble.
