brandeeg83
I cannot find silicone dioxide on either the off-limits list or acceptable for program list. It is in a few of my spices and I want to make sure it is acceptable. Can anyone help please?
ArtFossil
Silicon dioxide is a trace mineral and is OK.
brandeeg83
Thank you! What about sodium phosphate, sodium erythorbate and yeast extract?

The first two are salts. Yeast extract appears to be non-compliant. It contains Glutamates (which may or may not contain gluten). Yeast extract is also made with sugar. For tuna also be sure there's no soy -- water packed tuna especially seems to often have it.

It had soy listed in the sneakiest place: the allergy statement... Guess it was a part of the "vegetable broth" Ugh. I was hoping for a cheap protein source... Curse you tuna! It is possible to find canned tuna that's compliant, although it's not usually the cheapest brand available. Last time I checked, my walmart had a couple of brands that were. You might look for canned salmon instead, it's usually easier to find compliant and can be a little cheaper as well. Most cans will contain the bones and skin, pouches usually don't, and some cans don't, so if dealing with that bothers you, be sure you read the labels carefully. It's not really that bad to remove that stuff, but if you've never dealt with it before it can seem kind of icky. Many people do eat the bones, I just prefer my salmon not to crunch, so that's your choice.

I'll give it a try again. If I don't like it, well it's just 30 days. I can live without tuna
ArtFossil
@Cheshire Cheetah Look everywhere and read the labels. Sometimes the cheapest tuna is compliant. I get mine from Amazon by the case, but I prioritize convenience over cost.
praxisproject
If your regular stores seem to only have non-compliant tuna, check any ethnic grocers or delis. I find lots of small tins of compliant Italian tuna in high quality olive oil in italian/european delis (I'm in Australia)
laura_juggles
Check the low sodium varieties of canned tuna. They tend to be packed in just water instead of water and broth. I've found inexpensive store brands of low sodium tuna that are compliant when other brands aren't.
ColleenSw
I had this same trouble looking for canned chicken (I don't eat seafood). I wanted to have it on hand and also thought I could easily replace some of these interesting sounding Whole30 recipes that call for tuna with canned chicken. Luckily I found one brand at my Safeway that only contains chicken, water and salt. Although my can lists rosemary extract in the ingredient list and I don't see that on their website. From what a google search tells me about rosemary extract, it should be okay. http://www.valleyfresh.com/product.php?name=chicken-natural

praxisproject
Rosemary extract is compliant For those who don't like seafood, it's worth checking labels of tinned "potted meat", pate or liverwurst. Many are not compliant though.
flipperswitch
Trader Joe's is my go to. Only their skipjack tuna it's compliant but it's also cheaper than some of the other high end ones I've found in specially stores. They also have one type of compliant canned chicken.
