belleoftheball608
Hello all!! I'm Michelle and am 36 years old. I've struggled with my weight practically all my life and also have PCOS. I'm committing to starting my first Whole30 on January 9th. This will allow me some prep time to get my home, my mind, and my husband ready for the changes that are going to occur. My husband is supportive but doesn't always understand WHY I might choose something. Especially something that includes not eating bread, beans, rice, and tortillas. All things he adores and eats at pretty much each meal. (Yes, he is of Latino descent.) But I know he wants me to be healthy and happy. My main reason for choosing to do the Whole30 is because I'm tired of being unhealthy. I'm tired of putting crap food into my body, tired of not liking how I look in the mirror, tired of my wild and uncontrolled mood swings, tired of unregulated hormones and monthly cycle and so tired of not being able to conceive a child with my husband. We had a miscarriage in early 2013 and haven't had even a positive pregnancy test since then. 2017 is going to be the year I take back ownership of my health and my body. I plan to reclaim my health and happiness and work toward being fit, fearless, fierce and fabulous!
ColleenSw
Hi! I'm starting my first Whole30 on January 9 as well. My best friend visited over Thanksgiving and has changed her relationship with food (not Whole30 exactly, but reducing carbs, sugars, etc). She looks and feels fantastic. It got me investigating and I've decided to try this program. I've been slowly adapting some of my habits in preparation for January 9th in an effort to minimize the shock! (I love bread) Like you, I look forward to reclaiming some health. I'm so sorry to hear about the miscarriage - hopefully the 'reset' of Whole30 helps. I know that when I stopped eating so much processed foods (and did things like baking my own bread - ugh, I'm going to miss bread) it regulated my cycles tremendously. Best of luck! I hope to see you on January

Crystal of the snow
How is it going belleoftheball? I started on the 10th, for my first Whole30, recommended by my doctor because I had just found out that I have PCOS...after FIVE years (!!!) of trying to figure what the dickens was wrong with me! I am looking for a buddy to compare notes with as I go through this. You have a close enough start date and I have a husband who likes his carbs too. On day 2 my headaches have subsided and I'm feeling alright at lunchtime. It's so hard to form new habits... argh! The planning and meal prep is killing me a little bit. So my lunch is pretty haphazard today... but still compliant.
