KatieQuinn
So we're on our way home fro North Carolina and still have 5 hours to drive so I grabbed a coffee and had them put coconut milk in it (Starbucks). I started drinking it and realized it didn't taste like coconut milk at all. I got online and looked into it. Turns out it isn't coconut milk in the least but rather "Water, coconut cream, cane sugar, tricalcium phosphate, coconut water concentrate, natural flavors, sea salt, carrageenan, gellan gum, corn dextrin, xanthan gum, guar gum, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin d2. Do I have to start the Whole30 over?

kirkor
Ya that stuff has caught a lot of people off guard. It's crazy to me that they are allowed to call it "coconut milk".
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted January 16, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 16, 2017 Carrageenan is extremely gut disruptive unfortunately... Not sure what day you're on... some people just add days to the end so if you were on Day 5, you'd just make this a Whole35... that can be easier on the psyche but it's also true that deciding to restart because you want to do a fully compliant Whole30 is very good for your morale and psyche as well (remembering you made a commitment to yourself, realizing that there are nasties in things you wouldn't expect and then learning from this experience and starting over). That's what I would do personally but as the poster above said, check out the article and see what you think.
