Min
I'm worried some things I do already won't be Whoel30 compliant. Namely, making butter from milk from a free range, grass fed cow (the milk is raw) and using liberal amounts of extra virgin olive oil (the organic kind). Also, what about free range eggs? (I live on a farm.) Are these okay for the Whole30?
Rose885
The olive oil and eggs are completely fine during Whole30! Unfortunately the butter has diary in it so should be cut out. It sounds lovely though and if you reintroduce it post Whole30 and don't have any adverse reactions to it you should keep it in your diet. I think you may be able to make ghee from the butter but no idea how, maybe someone else can advise on that?
Min
I've actually already done the dairy detox stuff and I don't seem to have a problem with butter. It's regular milk and cream I have issues with. *shrugs* What can I say.....my body hates me!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 23, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 23, 2012 The Whole30 is a package deal; even if you have "already done the dairy detox stuff," you can't have butter during a Whole30. We want you to experience the full detox experience of all the possible problems at once. Your sensitivity to butter may have been masked by irritation from grains, legumes, etc. The fact that you have problems with milk and cream is a warning. You can clarify your butter by heating it and skimming off the milk solids. Or you could cook it longer and remove the browned milk solids to make ghee.
