30, prostate and coffee

Recommended Posts

Hi, Bargeboy!

First, I'm not a doctor, so if this is causing you significant discomfort, definitely get yourself checked out!

That said, do you suspect that it's the coffee itself that's a problem, or the increased act of urination because of the coffee? Do you experience the same pain after drinking a lot of water, for example?

Well, then I'd suggest you cut back on the coffee, then make the switch to tea, and see if you can get completely off it. Because caffeine is a vasodilator, it increases blood flow to areas (like your prostate), which will enlarge them. And because it's a diuretic, it will make you urinate more often, which will also affect your prostate.

Hi Bargeboy -

I have BPI and it definitely improved when I cut out coffee. Sorry to say. It hasn't completely rolled back the clock for my prostate, but it was a clear step in the right direction.

A good strong cup of tea is pretty satisfying!
