Guest
So if anyone reads this- I'm trying to track my health changes especially my issues with IBS and Fibromyalgia, so it will contain TMI portions. This is really meant for me, I don't mind sharing but read at your own risk. Start info- 40 yr old, 5'3", as of 2/5 weight 133. Issues: Fibromyalgia, IBS, food allergies, environmental allergies, migraines, chronic fatigue, arthritis in hands, back and feet, acne, significant other back problems. Been sick with some kind of stomach issues off and on since December, lost 7 lbs since then just because I can't eat/lose everything I eat. Currently battling the bathroom demons since Friday or Saturday, also haven't slept in two nights. Took the day off sick, got up at 10:45. Coffee with coconut milk- yuck- will try coconut cream tomorrow. Breakfast at 11:15- Attempted spinach tomato frittata. Total cooking fail, turned it into a scramble. Ate two bites, it smelled disgusting. Know I won't be able to reheat it so tossed the whole thing. Ate a banana. Promptly got sick after, probably from coffee effect. Guest
Slept from 1-2:30. Woke up with a headache. Really hard to figure out what to eat while having the stomach flu. Lunch 3:00- 1 banana, 1 organic applesauce cup, 2 hard boiled eggs whites only, 2 stalks of celery with almond butter for a fat
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted February 6, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 6, 2017 You might try fairly bland things -- baked or grilled chicken breast, baked potato with just a little ghee or oil on it and maybe some salt. Personally, I do better with scrambled eggs than hard boiled when I don't feel well. Broth/soup can be good too. Peppermint or ginger teas can help if you're feeling nauseated. If you're into essential oils, I find just smelling a bit of peppermint oil or rubbing some on my tummy (mix it with a bit of coconut or olive oil) seems to help settle my stomach too. Hope you feel better soon.

I second the tea - especially the peppermint. It does wonders on raging guts. And ginger is great for nausea. Good luck! Hopefully this will help with some of those issues! Guest
I do drink peppermint tea and had some this evening. Thanks for the good wishes. I have chicken defrosting to prep for tomorrow and will make some potatoes and sweet potatoes too have on hand. Dinner was spaghetti squash with homemade tomato sauce and a whole avacado. I prepared ground lamb but couldn't make myself eat it.
Guest
Had a major sugar / chocolate craving last night right before bed so I ate 4 dates. After that got stomach cramps, could have been the dates or earlier dinner. Slept until 12:30 (still off sick). Woke up with a screaming headache. 1:00 Coffee with coconut cream 1:15 3 eggs scrambled in ghee with harissa on top. Ate about 2/3 of plate. Big hot flash while eating. Bathroom demon, then fainting spell. Have to sit down and rest a while. Ate a banana in case I need sugar, drinking my second La Croix in case of dehydration. Hot flash and faintness hormonal or due to sickness, or both?

Guest
Didn't really have lunch with the way the day worked out. Will have a mini-meal before bed. 7:30- homemade curly fries http://lmld.org/2013/08/21/oven-baked-curly-fries-arbys-copycat/ substituted potato starch for the flour and coconut milk for the milk, chicken breast cooked in butter with bacon, and sauteed spinach (in olive oil) with garlic. I really want something sweet now.
Guest
Can't edit, just saw I put that the chicken was cooked in butter but it was olive oil. Still having intense sugar craving
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted February 8, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 8, 2017 When you want something sweet, the worst thing you can do is to actually have something sweet. If it's just a craving and you're not really hungry, try distracting yourself -- go for a walk, read a book, talk to a friend, work on a hobby. If you can't distract yourself and you feel you must eat something, try having some olives or some avocado or some other non-sweet something. The fat from olives or avocado will help you to feel more full, but even something like pickles or sauerkraut might be enough to get your mind off sweetness. Guest
It is definitely a craving. I had a cup of peppermint tea and I might have some olives, although that brings on a different craving because one of my favorite pre-w30 snacks was a plate of Olives, cherry tomatoes, and hard cheese. I pretty much lived on cheese up until now.
Guest
Third meal/ mini-meal: 10:30- 1 avacado, 5 cherry tomatoes, 8 kalamata olives in balsamico and evoo.
Guest
Got up at noon, last day off sick from work. 12:20, 1 fried egg, curly fries re-fried in evoo and ghee, coffee with 2 tsp. coconut cream. Feeling decent, just tired.
Guest
Day three lunch around 2:30pm- large salad with lettuce, cucumber, red bell pepper, olives, avocado, three boiled eggs (whites), celery, green onion. Dressed with avocado oil and balsamico, salt and pepper. Finished my fats and protein but not all the sweet veggies. Started having a stomach ache a couple hours after lunch, possibly from the green onion. Will avoid it in the future. Began cooking dinner around 5:30- stomach still hurting so had a cup of coffee with two tablespoons coconut cream to induce a potty break. Dinner at 7pm, baked salmon with salt, pepper, chili flakes, garlic. Sauteed veggies: yellow squash, mushroom, broccoli, garlic, shallots in olive oil, topped with red pepper sauce from the book (minus capers, sub basil for the parsley). Finally BM after dinner, still have bad stomach ache and bloating. 1 date for a sweet taste after salty dinner.
Guest
Only day 4?! Overslept for work, got up at 10. Breakfast was a banana and coffee with coconut cream. Stomach is much better (so much pain all the way up to bedtime last night) but still a little bloated. Light-headed and dizzy could be from lack of food/sugar or from congestion, sinuses feel very tense. Lunch at noon- salmon, spaghetti squash with tomato sauce, clementine. Guest
After lunch still felt very light-headed so had a pint of blueberries for the sugar around 1:30. Somewhat bloated and crampy all afternoon. Super tired by 5pm, but that is normal for me. After work, had a nap from about 5:30-7. Dinner 7:15- crock pot beef roast in bone broth with white potatoes, celery, red pepper. So many cravings. I want cheese and chocolate. Even white bread looks good. Guest
Day 5. Overslept again, woke up at 9:30. Had a quick breakfast of 2 hard boiled egg whites and a little re-fried curly fries. It was really hard to force the food down and I had no appetite. Only half a cup coffee as I was feeling nauseous and afraid to push it before leaving for work. Feeling super crabby. Nearly took two people's heads off for minor things. Kind of hate everyone and everything right now.
Guest
Lunch at 1:30, chocked down a hand-sized portion of baked salmon and a whole avocado. 6 oz blackberries and a few raspberries. Feeling tired and slightly crampy.
Guest
Not very healthy behaviors today. Got home from work and went to bed at 4:30- didn't wake up until 9. Knew I needed to eat something but didn't want any of my leftovers, I'm out of eggs, all my other proteins were frozen, so cooking wasn't an option. Instead of being a big girl and getting up to feed myself I pouted in bed until almost 10:30, then I made a salad- lettuce, tomato, olives, avocado, two boiled eggs. Avocado oil, balsamico, s&p for dressing. After dinner I made my menu and shopping list for the next 7 days. Going to try to prep a lot this weekend and focus on making bigger meals so I can have good leftovers. I'm already over having meat at every meal, so I'll be making lots of egg dishes. cahliah
Prepping is key! And definitely make bigger meals. Having something quick you can grab - even leftovers - is going to be important. I'm even considering throwing some pre-portioned meals in the freezer, so if worse comes to worse, and I'm out of leftovers or nothing sounds good, I can pull one out and zap it in the microwave. Guest
Last night was a bit crazy, eldest daughter got sick in the night and fainted briefly- lack of food and water I suspect. So at 1:30am husband and I were cooking for her and forcing water down her throat. She seems better today but the first thing she asked for when she woke up was pancakes. I was fine with making them but watching her drizzle real maple syrup on and eating... that was a little bit of torture. Day 6: Got up at 10:30. Coffee with 2 tsp. coconut cream. Because I was cooking for the kiddo didn't have my breakfast until about 11:45. Bacon, two fried eggs, leftover curly fries. A small glass of compliant apple juice- I know we are encouraged not to drink juice but I am out of La'Croix and I needed something to drink as a counter to all the salt and fat in that breakfast. Guest
I feel terrible today. Diarrhea all day, light headed, weak. Not sure if it's a resurgence of the stomach flu or side effects of this diet. Been on my feet nearly all day in the kitchen too, which hasn't helped. It's nearly 6pm on Saturday and I have accomplished nothing and my weekend is half shot and I feel like shit which means Monday will likely be rough... I'm just over it. Second meal was butternut squash soup at 5pm, followed by 1/2 cup of coffee.
cahliah
Ouch - I don't envy you! Try not to stress too much about not getting things done, if you can. There will be days where it's harder, and putting pressure on yourself to do more than you're capable of is just going to make things worse. Guest
Thank you @cahliah, I really need to hear that. As much as it seems I shouldn't, I constantly forget that I have a chronic illness and I can't do things like normal people. In the long run, this diet won't be sustainable for me, it's too much work and I don't have enough spoons to go around (spoon theory for disabilities). But I will hang in there for 30 days, somehow. Rested/napped from 5:30-9. got up and prepped salsa and sunshine sauce for tomorrow. Ate three scrambled eggs with salsa around 10:30pm for dinner. Husband said he might cook coconut chicken for me later. I plan to make a breakfast casserole tomorrow, also the cold Thai salad, and a protein salad with canned chicken. I need to go buy more eggs before I can finish.
Guest
Sunday, day 7. Horrible night, no sleep, got up at noon, bitchy beyond belief. Coffee and butternut squash soup for first meal. Serve headache and generally horrible day. Dinner/second meal at 7pm. Curry chicken and cauliflower rice. It's nearly 10, I'll eat a little something before bed to get a 3rd meal in.
