meowren
Hi! I'm not actually doing a Whole30 at the moment although my boyfriend & I talked about starting one next month I'm really fond of agua de jamaica (hibiscus tea) - I like making it with dried flowers & fresh lime juice. Unfortunately it also calls for refined sugar, otherwise hibiscus on its own is quite tart. I got the idea though to complement the tartness with the sweetness of fruit! I was thinking it could be tasty to infuse some berries with the tea, maybe by muddling the juices out and/or just throwing the berries in there while it steeps & cools down. Does anyone have any recommendations for substitution measurements? i.e., how much berry juice or how many berries per how much sugar? And also perhaps which berries might complement the flavors the best? I could just experiment with it, but I don't want to waste ingredients & would love some second opinions before I try this out Thanks a bunch!! laura_juggles
To make it to your own taste, you would need to experiment. Raspberries would probably be good and just add a few to start. The lime juice is also making it tart. So maybe try a completely different recipe. This one calls for hibiscus and mint. http://justpaleo.com/recipes/node97/
