Sonniek
My husband and I don't care for sweet potato. I've tried cooking them in several different ways and still don't like them. What else can I use in place of them in recipes?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted February 9, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 9, 2017 It'll depend on the recipe, really. White potatoes, winter squashes like butternut or acorn squash, carrots, parsnips, turnips, rutabaga all have some similar characteristics, but if there's a specific recipe you're looking at, let us know and maybe we can be a little more specific. kruddock
Have you only tried orange sweet potatoes? I can't stand them, but I love white sweet potatoes they are not nearly as sweet which is what I can't stand about the orange ones.

Yes, do try the Koimo or Korean type sweet potatoes - shape is similar to the standard sweet potatoes but they have red skin on the outside, white flesh on the inside, WAY different taste and texture when baked.
