Debbie M.
Hi, I am on day 12 of the Whole30 and things are going pretty good. But I can't seem to do 3 meals a day. Part of the problem is that I have medication that I take in the morning and can't eat for 1 hour after that. By that time I am on my way to work (6:00 AM) and won't have a chance to eat until my 9:00 break. I then have 3 eggs but don't have time for much else. I do eat a full lunch and a full dinner. Wondering how this will affect the process or if there are any suggestions that may help. Thanks Debbie
NoMoreCrunchyCravings
Can you eat in the car after the 1-hour mark from your medicine? Baked potatoes (all varieties), cut up veggie sticks (carrots, peppers, etc.), boiled eggs, burger patties, olives, plus so many other foods are excellent finger foods and can be eaten quite easily on the run or while driving. Even if it was just a mini-meal, it's best to try to eat ASAP when you wake up, so waiting until quite a few hours later at your first break isn't advised or optimal. Does that sound possible to try? I'm in the same situation with a medication that requires an hour wait before eating, so I decided to get up a bit earlier to accommodate that before work. Instead of getting up at 5:30am, I now get up at 5:00. That gives me time to take my med, get ready for my day and eat a quick breakfast as soon as that 1hr wait is over. Even an extra 15 or 10 minutes might be all you need to squeeze something in your schedule. You could mix up a nice egg salad with homemade mayo the night before and eat that -- scooped into some lettuce cups or with veggie slices to dip in it -- just before you leave the house or right after you get to work, before your shift starts. Maybe not a perfect breakfast, but that or something similar would be lightning-fast in the morning. And trust me, I know it's hard to talk yourself into getting up even earlier when you're already an early riser like we are. But it can be worth! ArtFossil
And don't forget about frittatas! The ultimate grab and go Meal 1 food! Lots of us have that wait-an-hour-before-eating requirement and all I can say from experience is that if you can get creative about eating Meal 1 as close to that hour as possible, it will really pay off in benefits for the rest of your day. Debbie M.
Tried getting up earlier this morning. But it snowed last night so I had to leave earlier to get to work on time. I did manage to get something at 7:30. I wouldn't mind snacking in the car but need to find something that is relatively dry or that I could easily wrap in a napkin and wouldn't soak through. I can't get up much earlier or I would have to be in bed by 7:30 to get my eight hours. I work a 10 hr shift so by the time I get home, cook dinner and eat it's almost 7. Any other ideas for quick on the go food. I could have some nuts but I don't want to eat too much of those. I have done some of the baby food in the squeeze packages. Weekends I do really good since I don't have to go to work. Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions.
TryingOver
I second the suggestion for the frittata muffins. They are super portable, good hot or cold, and hold up quite well. Plus you can mix and match the vegetables so you aren't eating the same thing each morning.
