Quint
Hi guys, Day 2 and I have a bad headache (haven't had one like this for about 4 months). Could this be sugar detox related? Also, struggling with the 3 meals (famished in between as used to snacks). Should i see it out or start including snacks or maybe up the size of my meals? TIA!! laura_juggles
The headache could be from not eating enough, being dehydrated, or any number of other things. What did your meals look like yesterday?

What did your meals look like yesterday? Breakfast: 3 eggs with mushrooms & 1/2 apple Lunch: Roast chicekn with veg (carrots, sweat potatoe & onion) & some olive oil poured on Dinner: same as above but with coconut oil instead of olive oil bedtime snack: olives
laura_juggles
Without portion sizes, it's hard to tell if your portions are too small, but I'm assuming you didn't eat like 3 cups of mushroom at breakfast? And a lot of people have found that eating fruit at breakfast leaves them hungry before it's lunchtime compared with folks who don't have fruit at breakfast. So I'd guess that you could probably do with at least upping the veg in your meals, and maybe the fat. Eating fats (like avocado, olives, or mayo) seem to be more satiating than using oils as your fat. Also focus on getting at least 1/2 oz of water per lb of body weight. Do you normally drink coffee but didn't yesterday? It could be a caffeine headache if so.
Quint
thanks. just a handful of mushrooms :-) i usually drink tea, so maybe indeed caffeine withdrawal.
jmcbn
@laura_juggles has given you some good advice there. Bear in mind though that headaches are fairly common in the first few days as the body weans itself off of refined sugars. A couple of other things I'd add - remember to salt your food - switching to whole foods can cause a drop in sodium intake of up to 70% and your body needs sodium to function. A serving of eggs when they are your only protein in a meal would be the number of whole eggs you can hold in one hand without dropping. Most females can hold 3-4 so I imagine you could hold more, which would help with the hunger - a breakfast low in protein/fat often leaves you playing catch up for the rest of the day. If you're not keen on eating so many eggs in one sitting try another protein source - salmon & mackerel work well, as does ground beef/pork. This too shall pass! The whole30 timeline is a really good resource for how you can reasonably expect to feel. Everyone is different of course and you might not follow it exactly but for me it's really accurate! I recently stopped having any fruit with my breakfast and noticed a huge difference in my hunger levels. It takes a while to get your meal portions right (and big enough) but you'll get it! Don't get too discouraged
