Lauryneve
I am from Louisiana and absolutely love boiling seafood in a big pot of water seasoned with this spice blend. How non-compliant is it? The dextrose I assume is questionable, as are some of the other chemical additives. I only use a few teaspoons in a huge pot of water just to boil veggies and seafood, the I discard the water. Thoughts? spice 1: Ingredients: Salt, Dextrose, Spices, Spice Extracts (Natural Flavors And Colors), Lemon Juice, Monosodium Glutamate. spice 2: Ingredients: water, polysorbate 80, oleoresin capsicum, essential oils of: bay, clove, black pepper, thyme, marjoram and artificial spice flavors
JulieP757
The first one is a no go. Dextrose is sugar and the Monosodium Glutamate is soy. I googled polysorbate 80 and Whole 30 and I believe that one is technically okay. Here's the common additives sheet. http://whole30.com/downloads/additives.pdf And the sneaky sugars list. http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-sugar.pdf
Eccentrica
Yeah, Spice 1 is definitely non-compliant on Whole 30, in any quantity. Maybe you can find a fitting substitute for the first one (like Old Bay + a shot of fresh lemon juice, or mix up your own blend). Good luck finding what works for you. Renata
I purchased a cajun seasoning and after reading this post i am not sure if the one I purchased is whole30 compliant. The cajun seasoning I purchased has the following ingredients: salt, onion, red pepper, chilli pepper, garlic, black pepper, calcium stearate, celery, spices, oleoresing paprika and silicon dioxide. Can you please let me know if its whole30 compliant? Thanks.
