sethhasty
Hi all, Just introducing in here, rather unique situation for me. I work in the amazing industry that is craft beer here in Maine. I'm the sales rep for our brand, which means nearly every meeting with buyers and managers revolves around a pint or two, late night beer events, tastings, tap takeovers etc. I absolutely love the job, but often joke that literally the "worst" part of the gig is how much delicious beer is sort of expected to be drank. My sales numbers almost mirror my weight gain, as I am crushing the sales goals... but also the calories too. I was once a super fit 155lb marathoner, and 2 short years later I'm now 185, out of shape and sort of in an unhealthy place. Two weeks ago I decided I need a change, and committed to start Whole30 tomorrow (3/6). My biggest challenge will certainly be the beer that is drank while on the job, I am fearful buyers and managers will not understand, but I need to be true to myself.. getting back to the person I love is the most important. Looking forward to seeing how I feel in the next few days Cheers!
Msb5643
How is it going? That sounds really tough! I really miss beer myself! Hopefully you have a strong customer base that will support you.
scma
How funny, my husband and I were up in Portland ME during Days 5 and 6 of W30 - and it was killing him to not drink the beer (it was really my W30, not his, had it been his decision he would have not tried to do it during our Portland trip). He is already planning a return trip exclusively to drink beer. It will be harder for you than for many, but it's only 30 days, that's what I would keep in mind. Zimmer
I have just started my Whole30 experience and finding avoiding beer the hardest part. Such as yourself, I have been a dedicated athlete with my share of half marathons and work out schedule but lately due to personal circumstances, I kinda lost track of the healthy lifestyle. Trying to recover slowly, with 5k runs. But still fighting the beer phantom. Nothing better than a cold craft beer after an intensive exercise... soxmom
I just finished my first Whole30 and giving up beer was absolutely the hardest part. In the beginning, I felt like I needed to isolate myself and not go out in public where beer would be a temptation. Halfway through, I decided that wasn't me. I went back out and drank seltzer water with lime while others had beer. I learned that I could still have fun without the beer. I survived, and so will you! I am sure that putting yourself and your health first will be understood. Portland is the BEST place for beer!
