pookiepire
HELP! I am 14 days into my Whole30 experience. For the past 4 days I have woken up with WICKED headaches. I never have had this issue before but its very gross!! Any advice? Is there anything that anyone knows of that can cause that food wise, or supplement or anything? I have never had trouble sleeping or waking but the headaches are getting intense! Any advice is welcome!!
kb0426
Can you share what your typical day looks like foodwise?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 28, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 28, 2012 If you were getting headaches during the day, I might suspect not eating enough food or drinking enough water. Waking up with headaches sounds less like a food issue and more like a physical issue. That said, be sure you are eating and drinking enough. Have you begun a new exercise program? Have you begun anything besides the Whole30 that may be increasing your stress? Some people avoid taking painkillers while doing a Whole30, but that is not part of the program. You can take Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or whatever. I do.
Robin Strathdee
I'd also ask how close to bedtime you're eating. If I eat too close to bedtime, or eat something higher carb (without appropriate fat and protein), I wake up starving - which sometimes includes a headache. Eating something starchy too close to bedtime, which causes your insulin to spike and then drop during the night. I used to wake up with monster headaches, or even migraines, until I dialed my dinner time back and watched the carb/sugar intake. Of course, cutting the gluten, grains, dairy, and sugar has helped too.
