One Week Down!

Why did I start Whole30?

In January 2017, I developed very high blood pressure due to job stress. My doctor told me I was heading toward a stroke or worse. I was puffy, my knees and legs hurt, my feet hurt, and I had trouble sleeping. I turned to Whole30 out of desperation. I have autoimmune disorders, as well, thus I knew I had to tackle the inflammation.

One of my friends recommended Whole30. She is a woman in her 60's. Like me, she was once very puffy, sick, and overweight. Her skin used to look blotchy and she often appeared very tired. I had not seen her for a year. After several rounds of Whole30, she looked young and vibrant. I am not exaggerating; she looks amazing.

The fact is, I am sensitive to grains. I have known this for years but I never withdrew from them for more than a few months at a time. High blood pressure and Whole30 have taught me I should NEVER eat grains. NEVER. Some of you can (and will) reintroduce grains into your diet but I cannot. My life depends on living grain-free.

Well, I am happy to follow Whole30. I know my weight and blood pressure will go down, my body will stop aching, and my face will return to a normal, healthy, nonpuffy size. More importantly, I am not ready to die. Eating grain-free is worth saving my life.

Hello;

I edited your title because not weighing is one of the rules of the program and announcing that you've weighed in a post title is not on.

Please stay off the scale for the duration of your program.

Can you ask someone else to see the weight and not tell you?  It's really a huge part of the program to focus on the health and non scale victories and not the number on the scale... I really encourage you to find a way to do what is needed while still following the rules... maybe book your next appointmet for when you're done.

Presently, my life is in danger due to high blood pressure. I cannot wait. So, I will just ask to not be told. :)

Many nurses will respect that.   I'm "doing time" for HBP too.   Don't "hide" your Whole30 from your clinicians, either.    Print out the rules and some of the other resources so you can demonstrate how you are going about the plan.  Shopping, meal planning. etc.    It will benefit your own care to demonstrate how you are trying to manage the points at issue.     And keep fighting the good fight :)
