Fat Balancing Addition to Meals...

Ro-Ro

Recommended Posts

So... here's the thing; sometimes I'm noticing that I might need to supplement the amount of fats that I'm getting in a meal (I may have cooked with olive oil, but not enough, seemingly, etc.).

I came up with a quick and satisfying solution that I'm using now, that has helped me out, and I'm hoping that it's acceptable and compliant. Understand, it's not in addition to a full meal, it's part of the meal. I've made it a point to walk away from my plate as soon as I feel satisfied... and to never overeat. With that disclaimer, I present the following few ingredients that have given me a satisfying and (as far as my measuring go) very solid and fair combination of fats and fruit.

Grab a small pan (or pot), and pour in about 1/8 of a can of coconut milk.

Take 2 strawberries, and slice them super thin, and throw them on the milk.

Take 4 raspberries and throw them in the milk as well.

Crush up 4 or 5 cashews, and throw them in... you guessed it, the coconut milk.

Warm this up on the stove until it takes it's first boil, kill the heat and eat.

Please sound off if there's anything wrong with this approach to supplement fats (and get a little soothing deliciousness as well). I'm thinking I'm in the clear, but if not, I'd love to know.

Keep it up!

So, you are also having a proper meal at the same time, correct? With protein and a bunch of veggies? I'm thinking as long as you aren't awakening any sort of sugar dragon or soothing a dessert urge, it's fine, but hopefully a Mod will chime in for the definite answer. There is something about the careful measuring that raises some sort of flag to me, but maybe that really should just be looked at as a recipe and not careful measuring of nutrients.

This is not an individual meal at all, it's part of one of my 3 meals of the day, no doubt. It's about variety, and balance.

I only have one serving (if that) of fruit a day, mainly because the sweet isn't really appealing to me too much right now... I feel like my brain is blocking the cravings because I don't want to screw anything up.

My sugar cravings aren't driving this, I feel more like Strawberry and Raspberry are more tangy and sharp than sweet anyway. The fruit is more for taste and to change up from the rest of the meal and add variety.

I'm not really a dessert-eater as well; dessert proper has never been a real big deal for me. I measure out things mainly to try to match what I think I may have been light on or just as a frame of reference for my own note-taking. I'm being a bit of a stickler for the granular details on this whole thang.

Thanks for the feedback... hopefully a mod can weigh in if I'm running down the wrong rails.

Sounds yummy... I bit too yummy for me! I'd be eating a full pot of it on day 31, but if it doesn't trigger your dragons...power to you!

I am very sated with adding avocado to most salads or just slicing one up along side a meal( goes great with grilled meats), adding coconut milk or almond butter to mashed squash/ cauliflower/ etc

I limit my fruit and nuts in small amounts, mostly as a little texture crunch in my veggies/ salads.....

I wonder the same. I only have fruit once a day but often have it with coconut milk when I need to have more fat. If I have the milk by itself I could drink a whole can. But if I throw some berries in to a quarter of a can and eat it with a spoon my dragon stays asleep. I am fodmap intolerant and struggle with avocado.... Can eggs count both as protein and fat when in a meal or only as Pre WO snacks....
