Susie Que
Here goes! Day one of my second attempt at doing the Whole 30. I made it half way last time, but you know what, that's not a bad effort in itself IMO.This time, I'm going to get through at least 30 days. Was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue recently - has been an issue for me for more than 3 months. I think last time I got a little disconcerted by the fact that even though I was eating really well and following the program pretty much 100%, my health problems were not improving. I have no energy, was sleeping poorly, am constantly exhausted. Hopefully this is all about to improve :-)
Heidi Staddon
You can do this! Use the forum as much as possible, esp when you hit a rough patch. I am only beginning day 3 of (another) Whole30. Am 3 mo pregnant and succumbed to no-no's last Whole30 (last month). I am restarting. Signed up for the daily email too. We can get thru anything! See you around the forums hopefully
Susie Que
Thanks Heidi. I think I'll start a log to keep track, and have restarted the daily emails. Absolutely, we can do this :-)
Helene2310
@susie: I too am on day two of my second whole30. I got through day16 then realized I drank tonic water for 3 days and didn't realize it had sugar so I'm starting over. I can relate with your adrenal fatigue. I too have adrenal fatigue, Epstein Barr/chronic fatigue. Some days it feels like no matter what I do I just don't want to do anything but lay flat on my back and not move. I have noticed some positive increase with the whole30. I am doing the autoimmune protocol (cutting out nuts/seeds, eggs, nightshades, and my own choice of high sugar fruits) because my body is so delicate right now I want to heal it as much as possible. If you haven't read the book "Adrenal Fatugue: 21st century stress syndrome" by James L Wilson, it is a pretty good book. I really took away the sleep time part of it. Might be something helpful to you. Also try the forums "whole30 with medical conditions" there is some good feedback/info there. Adrenal fatigue can be a very slow process, but don't give up. My holistic dr told me not to be afraid to sleep and not exercise to prevent from overdoing. I have been doing light stretching and gentle yoga. As hard as it is not to work out, resting as really helped! Adrenal fatigue can be healed! We can do it
RunWild
Good luck with your Whole30, Susie. You can do it this time. I'm just a step ahead of you - today is Day 3 for me. There's a lot of encouragement in the fact that we're all in this together - all pulling for each other.
Susie Que
I'm sure this is a common occurance but when I started this, instead of eating simple meals I looked at all the things I could have - nuts, spicy pumpkin seeds, fruit, coffee with coconut cream, sweet potatoes, nut butters, coconut butter, etc and so on, and went crazy on them. The total binge out of control type eating. Meanwhile my husband who doesn't have the emotional attachment or preoccupation with food that I do, ate normally and lost 15 pounds in a month. I've had to get rid of a huge amount of foods in my house but it seems like something new crops up on a regular basis - I seem to seek them out subconsciously. Also I'm still dealing with insomnia, which is making it difficult to resist foods because I'm constantly exhausted and my brain is seeking out fast energy just to keep me awake, it seems. Help! I feel like I'm constantly trying to start my Whole30 over and over again and not getting anywhere.
Octavia
Hey Susie - I am glad I found your post. I totally understand. I just had to restart my Whole30 as well (for a second time). For me, it is difficult dealing with a hectic schedule and trying to have Whole30-approved foods (besides nuts and fruits) ready to eat. This is not as easy as I expected, especially when things like weddings or conferences keep interrupting my Whole30 weekends. Anyway, I'm optimistic and reaffirming my commitment, trying to correct the mistakes I made last time.
